Rosewood Dairy Bar — Restaurant in Columbia

Today was my 2nd time trying this place due to it being down the rd from my job. I ordered the exact same thing both times. A four piece dark chicken dinner. The first time it was exceptional. The chicken was fresh and hot as if it just was cooked. The fries were also hot and fresh. Didn't care for the coleslaw but I'm very picky when it comes to coleslaw. Even with not liking the coleslaw I'd still give the first visit 5 stars. This time was totally opposite. Instead of giving me the 4 piece dark dinner, they gave me a 4pc mixed dinner. A leg, a thigh, a wing, and a breast. Unlike most people, I hateeeeee breast. They're just too dry to me. Both the wing and the breast were way overcooked and seemed as if they were sitting out awhile. See below. The thigh and the leg were decent though. The fries were not as hot or fresh this time around either. They tasted old as if they were also out for awhile. You can tell how old the thigh is by looking at the discoloration in the pic. I'm not sure what happened between the first visit and this one, but it's a drastic change. I will try again to be fair and due to the first visit. Will update this...

I used to have a 5-star review for this restaurant, but after my most recent visit I needed to update it.

I experienced some of the worst customer service I’ve ever had. The woman who took my order (red hair and glasses) was rude from the very beginning. When I walked up to the counter and said “Hey, how are you doing today?” she just gave me a stank face. She told me their soft drink machine was broken. I asked if they had sweet tea, and she responded with attitude, saying, “Like I just said, we still have sweet tea.” I’m hard of hearing and she was speaking very quietly, so maybe I probably did miss it. Still, that's no excuse to be so rude.

I wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt, because maybe she was having a terrible day, but after reading other recent reviews about poor service, I think this may be a common issue.

It's sad, because Rosewood Dairy Bar has always bee a staple of the community, and it used to have great food and service. I really hope they can return to the standard they were...

The ice cream is so disgusting now, my goodness. It’s texture is like frozen ice. The flavor is straight up gross- closer to warm milk than vanilla. It tastes like it has some sugar alternative product in it. I don’t mind diet soda but in ice cream this tastes gross. I can tell this place is going downhill despite its average rating on google. This is because the amount of passive aggressive signs out front essentially yelling at the customer if they complain about their food. That ice cream cone was so gross it essentially sealed the deal that I will never come back.

I am honestly convinced the owner of this place is allergic to making money. They could have so many small improvements like more toppings better hours better ice cream etc. Oh well…

By the way- in my opinion the soft serve sold at carolina baseball games is the best in town and personally the best I have ever had. Do yourself a favor and get it next time you’re there especially (Reese's...
