This was a really fun and new experience for me, I have never had crawfish before and didn't know what was on the "plate" before I paid for one - and it is a huge mess of crawfish. A little potato and a small cob of corn, but otherwise, all crawfish, so you might want to make sure you like it first! I ended up liking it well enough. I had originally thought that there would be food vendors selling items that had crawfish in them, but no, just the one crawfish plate.
And your $10-15 entry fee only gets you in the door. Parking is $5, the crawfish plate is $20, and of course, all the other food or rides cost money. THOUGH - the music is included and that was really good! I liked the two bands I saw, but there was so much down time between bands that I only saw most of one set and just the beginning of another after being there for an hour and a half on the baking hot blacktop. The smart people brought their own chairs and set up under the small amount of shade to the right of the stage.
There are some cute kid's rides, including a more-thrilling round up for bigger kids. A few folks were out selling things like jewelry and baskets, etc, but not nearly as many as I thought there would be. I ended up with my huge plate of crawfish and a lemonade and some fries. Had I added in a dessert, that would have been a really nice lunch. The purple food truck near the stage was my favorite - I don't know their name, but they had alligator bites and more...
Read moreWhat a disappointment! I had to wait 15 minutes to buy my tickets for the honor to buy my tickets to get a plate of crawdads, then I waited an hour in line to get them! Seems to me that most folks that come to a crawfish festival want to eat crawfish! To wait an hour in line is inexcusable! Only one outlet in the whole fairgrounds to get your crawfish! Then on top of it the crawfish were apparently frozen & not nearly as good as years past! Really bad experience & I won't be back unless they revert to the neighborhood experience as in years past! If it continues like this year, don't...
Read moreWe paid 45 dollars for two adults and two children 5&10, 5 dollars for parking, &25 for crawfish 6 dollars for 2 sodas, you had to bring your own chairs. You had to pay an extra $10 to get on the bouncy. Had to wait in a long hot line for more than 30mins. I will not be back a huge disappointment & not worth the money. I could have went to a restaurant and listen to music and ate better for...
