First let me say Iām sorry to leave such a poor review. I so wanted to love this bakery! Grew up in NY and have missed good pastry for 30 years. After following on Facebook for a year, I finally made the drive with family visiting for the holidays. We went on New Yearās Eve day at approximately 11am. The cases and shelves were almost empty. Figured it was a holiday so I let that slide. If you know anything about a pastry shop you know they NEVER sell cannolis pre filled! They fill to order when you ask for them⦠their cannolis were already filled in the show case! I did not waste my money on trying them, so I guess I canāt pass judgement on them. The tri color cookies were dry and the chocolate was way too bitter! Even tcake part tasted bitter. I make my own and these didnāt come close! The fig cookies were dry and rock hard. The sesame cookies seemed fresh and had the right amount of sweetness. We also got six Sfogliatelle. They were okay but definitely not freshly baked. The employee didnāt even sprinkle powdered sugar over them! We reheated them and sprinkled powder sugar to make them taste decent! The pignoli cookies were so chewy they stick to your teeth like toffee. Because they were in plastic, they had no crisp to the top! We spent $66.00 for about 2lbs of cookies and didnāt care about the price because we were hoping we finally found a place for Italian pastry! Sadly, we did not! I would never go back. It was a huge disappointment. They should at least school the sales staff on how to serve And sell the product! Everything is pre packaged in plastic containers just like a grocery store, not a pastry shop! I have no idea where they learned their pastry business, but it was definitely not Boston, NY or San Francisco! If you have never had Italian baked goods, you might not be as disappointed, but s donāt expect this to be like...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis place is pure heaven! Growing up in New York, Italian pastries and good Italian food was easily accessible. Down here in Tennessee, not so much. So when my wife and I saw this place on social media, we decided it might be worth a trip (it is about 75 minutes from us). It definitely was! Tucked away around the corner from the train depot, as soon as we stepped out of the car, you could smell that familiar scent of Italian cooking. Walk into any pizzeria or Italian bakery up north, and you know what I mean. It is a small shop, but they have a huge selection of pastries, pastas, sauces, and other staples. After looking around we picked up two manicotti dinners from the refrigerated section, (good thing I thought ahead and brought the cooler on this hot day!), and then we picked out some pastries--a linzer tart (very good, but i like it with a little confectioners sugar dusted on top), a black and white cookie (very good), a Milano cookie (my wife loved that one), and some cannolis. I got one for myself and I figured I'd get some for my parents as well. These were stuffed to order, and I had to have mine as soon as we were back in the car. (While I was putting everything else in the cooler, my wife snuck a taste, and she normally does not like cannolis, but she did like this one!) The cannoli cream had chocolate chips, it was super smooth, sweet and just a hint of maybe vanilla and cinnamon. I am hoping the manicotti is just as good, because I am definitely...
