[Plas] food and drink is an American Restaurant in Short North Arts District of Columbus. It was nice that our table in their outside patio was ready at the time of our reservation. However, if you're a vegetarian or vegan, your options are quite limited!
Our party enjoyed the Fireside cocktail as well as the Citrus Nogroni and Summer Palmer mocktails. While waiting for our entrees, we were given Rosemary Foccacia bread with jalapeño infused pickles in a smoked jalapeño aioli.
For appetizers, we shared the Pastrami Spiced Tuna Carpaccio and Roasted Clams Alla Casino. Both of the appetizers were a hit. Pastrami Spiced Tuna Carpaccio was served sliced, topped with everything bagel crumbles, served with summer cucumber on yogurt cheese, and garnished with a crispy smoked salmon bacon. The Roasted Clams Alla Casino consisted of clams roasted with double smoked pancetta, roasted bell peppers, and spinach in a savory pecorino broth and dusted with butter crumbs.
For dinner, we shared two meats and two pastas. I'll admit that it was too much food for five people.
The Ribeye Delmonico Pan Steak was served over a bed of truffle arugula with smoked mozzarella and heirloom tomato and finished with a creamy garlic aioli drizzle.
The Coffee Rubbed Roasted Lamb Ribs was glazed with a sweet and savory blueberry bbq sauce and served with tomato bacon slaw topped sweet corn cheddar fontina souffle.
Since we wanted veggies, we ordered the Everyday Gravy Vegan and Roasted Street Corn Ravioli. The Everyday Gravy Vegan consisted of orecchiette pasta served with vegan meatballs (aka eggplant spinach polpettini) and herb vegan provolone in a summer tomato ragout.
The Roasted Street Corn Ravioli consisted of savory roasted corn ravioli served in heirloom tomato salsa fresca, topped with smoked mozzarella, and finished with a basil pesto.
Everything came out too salty - some dishes more than others especially the two pasta dishes. Despite informing them of our pepper sensitivity, not only were the tomato sauce on the pastas too salty, but also too spicy.
It was nice of the restaurant to offer a complimentary dessert with the purchase of an entree for checking into the restaurant on Yelp. We shared the Berries n Cream, which consisted of a vanilla bean panna cotta topped with a layer of raspberry gelee, and garnished with lemon...

Pros: The service was great. Very accommodating, pleasant, and professional staff. The ambiance is great also (patio seating), and I think it would be best, maybe if you just wanted cocktails and apps (at least from this first visit as 'plas). I would love to come back to sit outside in the cabana-like seating area. Very random, but I loved the check holder. So unique and well-crafted. Reasonably-priced.
Cons: The food was decent to somewhat unpalatable (mind you, I typically review finer dining restaurants and consider myself a fairly bougie foodie). The other guest with me ordered the ravioli (with some sort of pesto-like sauce) and I, the agnolotti. We shared the non-vegan charcuterie board. The ravioli had to be sent back as it was overcooked and mushy (it was comped, another dish was offered complimentarily, and we were told that the chef agreed it wasn't served to standard). The agnolotti was pretty good and very filling. Not very suitable for a hot day with patio seating. The charcuterie was different. Probably wouldn't order this variation again, but it's appreciated that I believe they said it was all locally sourced. The pickled peppers and soppressata-like "chips" weren't for our palate, but not bad. I think the blue cheese (I believe it was, or one of the soft cheeses) could have been strained a bit more as the juice was carrying over to other pieces making them a little soggy. I normally smash some good meat and cheese platters, but we left quite a bit untouched. There was a jam that was pretty delicious though.
Overall, I would definitely give it another try. The menu seems to be rotating, so I'd be interested to see what else becomes available. But with the Cbus foodie scene being fairly cut-throat and always offering new experiences, it's easy to see how second chances for first impressions might be forgotten. I hope this place sticks around for a while. I can see that it's growing into this space and newly...

I stumbled upon [‘plas] on 5th Ave a few nights ago and WOW – this place is everything Columbus’s food scene deserves.
AESTHETIC: Tucked into what looks like a converted brick townhouse, this spot nails the effortless Brooklyn industrial-chic aesthetic without trying too hard. The moment you walk in, you’re hit with that perfect balance of exposed brick warmth and a modern feel that makes you want to linger. You also have options for interior or patio seating - both having their own, unique qualities.
FOOD: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 The Food Game is STRONG. A large portion of the menu is made from scratch in-house, and you can taste the difference in every single bite. They offer seasonal menus and seem to have a lot of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free offerings. Fair Warning: this place uses spices. Not just “heat” but actual FLAVOR (think cumin, garam masala, and Cajun spices).
I had the Sea Bass and it was an absolute masterpiece: perfectly prepared, with sides that enhanced rather than competed. We also tried the Creole Tartare (tuna) and the Chef’s Charcuterie - everything had fresh, intense flavors that somehow never overwhelmed. It’s clear they have a passion for food and their kitchen knows exactly what they’re doing.
DESSERT: 🍫🍰🥮 We went full dessert mode and sampled almost all of the dessert menu (don’t judge). We tried the Espresso Pots du Creme, the Peanut Butter Mousse, the Hazelnut Olive Oil Cake, and two of the “dessert cocktails”. Everything was phenomenal.
SERVICE: Shoutout to Xander, our server, who struck that perfect balance between attentive and chill. He made genuine recommendations, kept our glasses full, and added to the relaxed vibe.
OVERALL: Whether you consider yourself a foodie, need to plan a date night, or just want an elevated meal that doesn’t feel stuffy, ’Plas delivers on every front. The seasonal menu concept keeps things fresh, and the execution was excellent. I definitely want to go back and try...
