Big Mal's Linden Cafe — Restaurant in Columbus

I narrowly escaped death! My coworker told me about a new soul food spot near work. Okay I’m game. Get there and the set up is nice the music was good. I ordered two meals for myself. A chicken dinner at $16.95 for six wings and two sides🙄. I also ordered spaghetti for dinner. I open my wing dinners and the chicken wings are small. Now I don’t like big wings but can I get a happy medium. The wings were well seasoned and the Mac n cheese and sweet potatoes were on point. The garlic bread not so much. Anyhoo I digress. For dinner I had the spaghetti and I started chomping with enthusiasm when lo and behold I spotted a mushroom. I wondered why my throat felt tight and itchy! I ran to my medicine cabinet and grabbed my medication because I didn’t want to die today. Not from a mushroom at any rate. I am fine y’all alive and kicking. Please list the ingredients. I can admit I didn’t do my due diligence because I usually ask does an item contain mushrooms🥴😩 On another note my coworkers truly enjoyed their meals even if the portions were on the skimpy side. If I pay $16.95 for a 6 wing dinner I expect larger portions. I will return but...

Big Mal's is a wonderful small business! I was greeted with a smile and "genuine" hello! I order wings , fries and mac cheese! Yes I know it was two starches however, I had to try the mac and cheese.

The wings small , however the wings fried to PERFECTION and seasoned.

The Mac and cheese was good ! While I was eating I was listening to other customers about the food , someone order pork chops, and was so impressed with the taste ( I do not eat pork or beef so there will not be a future review) , another person order whiting, greens and yams and was slamming and another person ordered turkey ribs, yes turkey ribs.

Bottomline please support the small business in the Linden area and other areas it was a 30 min drive for me for those in the area stop in guve Big Mal's a try.

This was my 2nd time patronizing and I should have went somewhere else due to the 1st experience.. Like the 1st time, you got the cashier eating fries while ringing in customers, which is NOT good customer service at all... You could tell that the ribs were from the previous day or days before because the meat was hard but the gristle was chewy (overcooked).. Too much bbq sauce which covers up the flavor of the meat.. Mac & cheese was a 0 on scale of 0-10, due to noodles being overcooked.. Greens didn't have a taste of turkey and suppose to be cooled with turkey meat.. Overall the yams & tropical kool aide was the best out of the whole meal for $32.. I give everyone a chance at least once.. I gave Mal's a chance twice and will never buy food from here again BUT may come for the kool aide ONLY...
