⭐️⭐️½ – Great Basil. Mid Chicken. Manage Your Expectations. 📍 Brenz Pizza Co. – 4861 Tuttle Crossing Blvd, Columbus, OH 🗓️ Visit: August 2025 🥡 Ordered: • Heritage Honey Pizza (me) • Loaded Pep & Cheese Pizza (dining partner) • 5-piece Hot Buffalo BBQ Wings (new flavor, not listed on menu)
⸻
🍕 PIZZA • Crust: Fluffy and doughy — almost too bready. If you like a pillowy crust, you’ll be fine. If you prefer structure or crunch, this might feel underwhelming. • Sauce: I requested a mix of red sauce and garlic butter base, but neither flavor came through. I only knew it was there because I could see it — not taste it. • Heritage Honey: Sounded better than it tasted. Ingredients didn’t blend well — basil was the only real standout. • Hot honey drizzle: Syrupy, overly thick, not as spicy or balanced as expected. That said, they don’t skimp — when I asked for extra, they gave me a full cup. • Loaded Pep & Cheese: Heavier, saltier, and more flavorful than mine. If you like your pizza loud and cheesy, this might be your go-to.
🔥 Best bite of the night? The basil. No joke.
⸻
🍗 WINGS • Flavor: We tried the Hot Buffalo BBQ (new flavor). Ordered extra saucy on purpose because online photos made them look dry — and they were right. • Texture: Cooked evenly like they came out of a commercial convection oven — no crisp, no char. • Taste: Chicken tasted like plain poultry with sauce sitting on top. No seasoning soaked into the meat. No flavor depth. • Would I recommend? No. These are fine for catering a work lunch or feeding teens at a school function. But if you’re bringing these home to your people? They’re gonna look at you funny.
📝 Quote the vibe: “The meat and the sauce had a meeting and decided not to collaborate.”

🧑🏾💼 SERVICE • Counter staff were friendly, patient, and helpful. • The only thing more impressive than their pizza box display was how smoothly they handled questions and gave solid suggestions. • Dining room is clean, minimal, and clearly set up for high-volume takeout.

🧠 FINAL THOUGHTS
Brenz looks like it’s got everything together — streamlined branding, clean space, helpful staff. But the flavors didn’t match the packaging.
If you’re nearby and hungry, it’ll do. But if you’re expecting pizza that makes you pause or wings that leave a mark? You’ll probably walk away like I did — glad you tried it, but not rushing back.
📌 Save this if you’ve been circling the menu. And if you go? Try it with low expectations, and let me know if I missed something worth...
Read more2 visits since they just opened. A minor hiccup on our first order, that they were very eager to correct. A big kudos to the team for their ears and actions on the circumstances. It's a small counter front business with some small high top tables by the windows. So far I've only seen patrons sitting there waiting for their orders. I expect they will get more use when a lunchtime audience is grown. No booze on site, and I didn't see any taps or coolers awaiting permits. I would say it's going to be dry. Plenty of parking out front in the private lighted parking lot with handicap parking right up front. Bright lighting with subtitle decor to not overload you with cobweb catchers above your food. Staff is friendly and learning the ropes(Nov 2022). When trying a new pizza, I have to go to the benchmark Pep & cheese. Crust is a 3 day rise of the hand tossed thickness. To get my desired thin crust, I merely had to request a medium rolled out to large. I just put it in the comments on the website. There is a comment box for each item you order. The crust was evenly cooked with the markings of a deck oven, instead of a conveyor. The pepperoni had that slight char on the edge as is cupped, and reached up. I was happy with the sauce as there was not that pucker of sugary sweetness so many Ohio spots serve. Not bland, but with flavor that I have not yet identified. The cheese had a nice gooey stretch without that rubbery snap-back of imitation cheese. Square cut as I like it, yet my wife wishes there were more cuts.
Wings were average as expected. Tried the garlic Parmesan and the spicy. Not the flavors we will look forward to ordering again for ourselves. Traditional wings without breading. Size varies by food costs I'm sure.
Dessert was the CinnaBrenz. A sweet dough cut into large bites, with a brush of cinnamon butter I believe. A side of icing is included for dunking or drizzling.
Looking forward to their complete menu availability....
Read moreFirst time trying Brenz. I ordered a Mediterranean pizza, cheese bread, a salad, and cookies.
The pizza looked good but wasn’t anything I haven’t had at other places. The crust was semi-thick with a chewy feel, like a thicker New York style. Unfortunately the chicken was dry and had zero flavor. Not having a tomato or crème sauce also took away from the flavor. It ended up being like tough bread with toppings.
The garlic cheese bread was good but the cheese came off in two bites, leaving a thick, somewhat undercooked dough stick. Additionally the dipping sauce, which I assume to be their pizza sauce, was sweet. I get adding sugar to cut down acidity, but it was too much for my taste. I ended up throwing away the entire breadstick order.
The salad was good but the cup pepperoni was almost black and had a slight char taste. I didn’t mind the burn flavor but I wonder if that’s normal. The Italian dressing was good but I wish there was more, along with toppings.
The cookies are where they shined. Delicious. All their deserts looked amazing. Soft in the center but just a little crispy on the edge. Bravo.
Service was great, store was clean. The only criticism I have is their signage wasn’t on and the parking lot was empty, so the store appeared closed. They were open but the visual from driving by is that they weren’t.
Unfortunately I see no reason to return. The deserts may be excellent but everything else was disappointing. I was hoping for a new pizza...
