Went on a Sunday around 1pm with my husband and 8yr old son. It wasn't really busy at all. The atmosphere and decor is great, it's like a piece of Columbus and Fort Benning mixed, I really liked it. Walking in we were greeted and asked where we would like to sit, which we picked a booth. The waitress (Rachelle B.) was not the best unfortunately. She acted and made it seem like we were a burden and bothersome. She took our drink order, which they have Pepsi products (just as a note), I had the sweet tea (no lemon), which had really good taste/flavor. She then took our order, my husband order the Airborne Burger with the egg over-medium. I ordered the Scramble Dog (which she proceeded to ask if I wanted the hotdog grilled or raw..I got grilled). My son (who's eyes were bigger than his tummy) wanted a whole waffle with bacon & sausage (which they had a 1/2 waffle with meat on the 'Privates' menu, but he wanted a whole, which I did not see on the menu). Once we received our food, I had to ask for more drinks as she was walking away, she did not volunteer to refill them. My husband's Airborne burger was very well cooked to the point it was very crispy/almost burnt. My Scramble Dog was overly cooked as well and the chili was a bit over salted. The hot dog was cooked to the point it was rubbery. My son's Waffle was great, light & fluffy. The bacon was good, a bit greasy though. We only received one refill on our drinks even though we had empty glasses. The waitress brought the ticket to pay..everything on the bill was okay except we was charged $9.99 for one waffle, $3.59 for bacon and $3.59 for two sausage patties..for a kid. I feel that was bunch much, maybe there was a different menu item the waitress could have offered or showed us but she failed to do so. The total bill for a meal for three was $58.86. Which is not what we were expecting. Especially since I literally ate three bites of mine and my husband left over half of his two patties. The waitress did not even check to see how the food was (I'm not expecting or wanting free food) but what I am wanting is a little better hospitality for a waitress. Unfortunately, this was our first and will be our last time visiting this restaurant. Thank you Troops for ALL...

A True American Gem with Hearty, Homestyle Food!
Found this spot recommended in a local foodie group and decided to check it out. I'm so glad I did! Darby's Patrol Base is the real deal—a fantastic, no-frills All-American Grill that serves up pure comfort food with a lot of heart.
The Vibe: From the moment you walk up, you can feel the genuine, welcoming atmosphere. It's clear this place has a deep respect for the local community, especially our military and first responders. The decor is straightforward and patriotic, focusing on what matters: good food and good company. It feels like a place you could easily become a regular at.
The Food: I was torn on what to get, so we just got both to try that Fried Bologna Sandwich was calling my name, and it was phenomenal. That sloppy burger with the fried egg was the star 🌟of the show. This isn't your childhood sandwich—we're talking thick-cut bologna, perfectly grilled on what looked like rye bread, with gooey melted cheese. It was savory, nostalgic, and absolutely delicious. The side of crispy tater tots was the perfect pairing.
We also tried the Burger, and it did not disappoint. It was a classic, juicy burger served on a bun that was branded with a cool logo (a really nice touch!). It came with fresh toppings and a generous pile of perfectly cooked crinkle-cut fries. The portions for both meals were generous, and you can just taste the care that goes into the cooking.
Service & Highlights: The service was friendly and efficient, making the whole experience even better. I really appreciate that they serve breakfast all day—I'll definitely be back to try that. It's also fantastic that they offer a 10% discount for Military and First Responders, which really shows their commitment to the community.

Read moreI recently had the pleasure of trying out the Ranger Burger and a regular Bacon Cheeseburger, both paired with regular fries, and let me tell you—they were absolutely fantastic. The flavors were spot on, the portions were generous, and they truly hit the spot. The customer service was another standout. The staff were incredibly kind, friendly, and made the whole experience even better.
This place is like a new-age Four Winds, bringing back the nostalgia of the old but with its own fresh twist. It’s quickly becoming a go-to spot for me, and I highly recommend giving it a shot if you haven’t already. The only thing that could make it better would be if it were closer to the actual Darby, but hey, you can’t have everything. Nonetheless, it’s worth showing them some love and grabbing a bite—you won’t be...
