I heard a lot of good reviews about this place but unfortunately when me and my friends came here we had a terrible experience. Like any other restaurant there was a wait which was understandable but for this past Sunday it was 40 minutes. This visit was specifically for a friends birthday and she had been wanting to have brunch here. In the meantime of us waiting we waited in the car. As we were waiting me and two of my friends overheard customers coming out of the building complaining. They said things such as âthatâs why black businesses always get the short end of the stick, that was ridiculousâŠâ another group said âwow that wait time is ridiculous, I canât believe the host thoughâ⊠even though we heard this we still gave them a chance but was slightly worried. After about 30 minutes we got a text our table was ready and the rest of our party took 2-3 minutes to find parking and came in. When we walked in our table was given away even though we had a friend go in and try to get it for us! The host said because we all werenât there she gave it away. So we waited about five minutes until a table was clear. They sat 5 of us at a table for 10 people which didnât make any sense. All the customers were sitting at booths and tables that in most cases were too big for them. Our waitress was okay, came and checked on us a few times throughout the process and asked if we wanted any other drinks than water. When I ordered I wanted cheese on top of my potatoes, she proceeded to tell me they donât melt it on top they serve it on the side for you to put on yourself? Not her fault at all definitely weird on managements part though. When food came out, mines came out first and my friends all came out 10 minutes behind each other so we all were eating at different times. By the time I was halfway done with my food the cheese for my potatoes came out so at that point it was kind of defeating the purpose. Towards the end of our visit there was another group of girls (3 of them) that I could see were talking to the manager. I didnât know exactly what was being said but could see the manager was annoyed and threw his hands up toward the end of the conversation. When the girls were leaving I stopped them and asked if they were having issues and they all proceeded to say yes the place was horrible. The cup that had the syrup was dirty and the silverware too. They said the manager responded and told them it was shredded cheese on the side of the cup not that it was dirt. The girls also told me their food was nasty and while they were sitting at one of the high top tables an employee came trying to clean beside them and got cleaning solution in their eye. It seemed like the manager didnât really care and personally I work in retail and customer service so you always should appease the customer. Overall it seemed like a good idea to have this establishment but for them to be black owned I would think they would try to treat their black customers a little better. Me and my 4 friends left the restaurant disappointed. One positive was the food was pretty good but other than that service was bad. Also the host was on FaceTime/her phone/outside for the last hour they were open. Hopefully the next time people go in, they have better...
Read moreSerious health code violation!!! Busser rinsing off dirty glasses and dishes in the handwashing sink behind the bar! Also they dumped the drink waste in the same sink that they later were washing glasses in. Disgusting...and more problems below. Would not recommend ANYONE visit here!
I was excited to try out Drunch, but sadly I will never be returning. Arriving to a wait is not an issue, but with their policies being enforced for myself yet others rushing in behind me to snag bar seats without complying with masks, getting temperature checked, nor sanitizing before entry, this was my first red flag. We were seated by the kitchen, which gave us an interesting perspective of the operations of the facility. I could tell all of the front of house employees felt rushed yet it did not seem very busy. I asked if they had coffee and after saying yes, my fiancé said, "I'll just have water for now, thank you." We still received coffee. Everyone seemed like they were on top of each other, yet the kitchen from what I could see was very lax. All of the TVs were set to cartoon network even though the environment was nearly all adults, and the sound in the place forced me to significantly raise my voice to order and talk with my party.
Thankfully, my food was pretty tasty. I ordered the smothered fried chicken (pictured). I enjoyed it generally, but it was very odd that it had a persistent sweet flavor in every bite that seemed unnatural. My fiancé ordered the drunch bagel sandwich, and for $14 she received a cold set of protein and the most undercooked, floppy, lukewarm bacon I've ever seen at a restaurant. Another server did bring her fresh bacon after we asked for a remake. Her sandwich was subpar at best; a McDonald's bagel sandwiches arguably a better value for the cost and quality. It was also very strange that her food also had a persistent sweet flavor throughout. No wonder why they have 18% gratuity for each server, they most likely would not receive good tips otherwise.
Ultimately, I walked into a complete management and leadership failure. I can tell a poor emphasis on training staff nor strategic floor plan and proper execution. The kitchen seemed to have it together but the front of house was utter chaos. Extremely disappointed, especially after we witnessed the extremely poor practices of the bussers and dishwashers right before we left. We were glad to get out but see the true side of Drunch. Would have left 2 or 3 stars if we did not see the literal health...
Read moreI went here with a party of 4 on Sunday morning. There was a line out the door and many people waiting in their cars. There was a 40minute wait time. Since I had been wanting to give this place a try for a while, we decided to wait. We were advised that when we were called for our table we had 5 minutes to respond. We waited in our car and when called we immediately went to be seated. When we got back to the door there was still a long line of about 10people. This worried me as we didnât want to lose our place in line after waiting for 30minutes. We finally got to the front of the line and we were advised of the COVID guidelines. We got our temperature taken and were told that there were no more table ready and have to wait. We waited for a table for an additional 10mins. We were seated at a small table right next to the bar. Overall the establish me t did the best the could with maintaining a safe distance however due to size of the restaurant the tables were cramped together divided by medians.
We took our seat and a waiter came to get our drink orders right away. It took about 15 mins for us to get our drinks. When we got our drink we placed our order to avoid having to wait for our again. I ordered the steak and eggs, a single waffle and garlic Parmesan wings for the table. The other 3 people in my party ordered the chicken and waffles. We were told that they were out of wings, which was disappointing. It took 40mins for our order to come. When I got my plate it, the food itself looked ok. However the portion was extremely small for the $28 that it cost me. The steak was labeled as a ribeye. The Steak appeared to be a thin cut round top. I also had about 7 potatoes and maybe one scrambled egg with cheese. My food was flavorful. However not with the price AT ALL. My party stated that their waffles were dry and did not have much flavor. Overall the portion size and quality were not impressive. During our duration there the waiter who was nice, only came back to check on us and give refills one time. With the 18% included gratuity I expected way better service. When I got the bill. We were charged for the extra waffle that I never received after canceling it due to not having any wings. After it was all said and done I spent $144 for four people. This is a popular restaurant but definitely not worth the wait time or money...
