The food was excellent. The chips weren't overcooked yet had nice crunch, the salsas were flavorful but not overpowering and most importantly added to the flavor of the rest of the food. The bean dip was a step above by actually having genuine flavor besides just bean paste. I ate a grilled chicken dish, and the vegetables ended up being the main star! Not that the chicken was any way bad, it was grilled superbly, the vegetables were just that good. They were seasoned but still retained the juice and natural flavor. An absolute masterpiece, I can't praise this enough. The rice, the lettuce, and guacamole were all in top shape, having great consistency but (again) not sacrificing flavor. The service was friendly, and made me feel right at home fast. There was only one issue...the beans. The bean dip (and everything else) was great so I had high expectations, but when I tried the beans...it was just lumps. Flavorless lumps. It wasn't bad enough to ruin the meal, far from it, they give you plenty of food. It is still sadly worth mentioning. Irregardless, I highly recommend coming here to try it for yourself if you enjoy flavorful, and in my opinion, authentic...

I'm not sure where the other reviewers were eating, but this is hands-down the worst Mexican restaurant I've ever been to! To begin with, the queso was thin and watered down; you could barely taste any cheese flavor. Same for the "mild salsa" that tasted a lot like canned tomatoes with a little spice/herbs. The guac was thin and pale green, not appetizing but didn't taste too bad. I ordered the TexMex quesadillas (chicken and spinach). I've never had a quesadilla that dripped when I picked it up. The bottom layer of the tortilla ended up very wet, I think with the thin "queso" inside, so ended up eating only half. It was hard to tell whether the chicken was cooked on site or canned. It wasn't grilled. My friend had the fajita which wasn't bad, it had grilled chicken. The iced tea wasn't so bad. The server was a little surly. It was just so bad, it was funny - an unforgettable experience for me...

So Sad to Say This Because this is 1 of my favorite spots to eat.... So today I ordered 4 tacos off of Uber eats and I only live like 4 blocks awsy or 3 mins away but I was under the weather & im disabled so I really didn't want to leave my house and was willing to pay the extra $$ to have it delivered....But again I really love their food BUT today I was VERY DISAPPOINTED because my order was Sooo skimpy compared to how it USUALLY is idk if ordering at lunch time was the difference but I feel like if this was my 1st time ordering I'd Probably NEVER order from here again..... Most likely I will order again because I do love the food I just hope next time is like ALL the other times I eat from here... consistency is very important & I hate that I had to leave this lil 2 star rating on such a GOOD spot to eat . Til...

This is our favorite Mexican restaurant around! We choose to come here over any other one within a 45 min radius. Prices are good compared to others. Every time we have come here we have enjoyed our meals, every time. Bean dip and salsa bar is really delicious, lots of options. All the regular menu items like chips, refried beans & rice are the perfect taste. Good vegetarian options, all the quesadilla options are so good - Veggie Quesadillas, Mushroom Quesadillas & Spinach Quesadillas, also Veggie Fajitas are all the ones I’ve ordered. My husband really enjoys his Pollo con Crema and orders it every time, we always look forward to the next dinner at El Campesino!

Just moved here a week ago and hubby was craving for Mexican. Not sure what we were going to find in this small town of Columbus but we are certainly pleasantly surprised by El Campesino! The deco is very modest but who cares when the food is LEGIT! Be sure to stop by the salsa bar to get the various type of salsa. I was so mad that I didn’t see it until we finished the first basket of chips! I had the fish taco, it was simple but YUMMY!! I added the pineapple salsa, pico de gallo and guacamole (all from the salsa bar) and I was a happy camper! Price is very reasonable and people are kind. Definitely will be our regular spot!

We discovered this hidden gem this year and have frequented it often since! I have included pictures from many visits with different entrees. The flavors of each dish are fantastic and full of flavor! From the Mexican stew, carnitas, taco salad, Pelluza Texana, and Pollo Campesino, they are all delicious! The margaritas are well made and the wine is great as well. And let’s talk about the Micheladas! Delicious is an understatement. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and spotless! The ladies that work here are hardworking and so friendly and nice. I highly recommend!!
