Cinco de M...whatever that holiday is. My lovely wife and I wanted to try this place we saw while out car shopping (VW Uber alles!) but it was packed! ...and there, love and behold, just down the street and not ridiculously busy, was El Carrizo. Read the reviews...not bad. High 4's. Cool. So we stopped in. Man am I glad we had to change restaurants! Staff was great, cheery, hopped right to us as we entered, had us seated in less than a minute. The restaurant was about half-full, enough of a crowd to keep the staff hopping! The proverbial chips and salsa showed up almost immediately. Great chips! Our waiter was attentive and not pushy. First time in, need a moment to look at the menu? No problem! He made a few suggestions then left us alone. We picked, he appeared as if summoned, room our order and 10 minutes later food appeared! HUGE portions! Rice and refried beans were great! I ordered a side of flour tortillas which went great with and couldn't finish my tasty main course! Had it for breakfast at home the next day! If you're a fan of restaurant "Mexican" food...highly recommend stopping in at El Carrizo. We spent $31 for the two of us, including the single largest drinks I've ever seen in a restaurant...and the 'no ice' drink I ordered... showed without ice!! Management acknowledged our first time visit and thanked us and said they hope to see us again. They...
Read moreI celebrated my birthday there and they were just SOOO SOO SOO SOO CONFUSED. my parents continually told the waiter that it was my birthday and my cake (the one that we bought) was supposed to come to the table after dinner. The waiter bought the cake before dinner AND PUT THE HAT AND THE CAKE IN FRONT OF MY FRIEND. I WAS WEARING A GIANT SWEET 16 BADGE. And they were not listening to us, they kept singing and they didn’t even stop when they shifted my cake to me (The actual birthday person) they just kept singing and by the time it got to me the song ended. They didn’t even let my parents come to my table. They were rushing everything like everything. My parents couldn’t even see me blowing the candles and cutting my cake. They were hella confused hella rushing and they just didn’t care like they barely came to our table like ever. We needed refills but the waiter wouldn’t even come. He only came twice once to take the order and once to give us the dinner that’s it. If you’re planning to celebrate your birthday there please don’t. And if you do make sure you like throughly tell them what to do and KNOW SPANISH or BRING SOMEONE SPANISH WITH YOU. They kinda just ruined my birthday. The food was extremely...
Read moreMy visit to this location on Whittlesey Blvd on 10/30/2020 was the worst experience ever. After being seated my family and I waited over 15 minutes to have our drink order taken and the only reason we got our drink order taken was because my wife got up to ask who our waiter was. Once the waiter brought our food we never saw him again, never checked back on us to see if we needed drink refills or to see if our food was cooked correctly or anything. After finishing our meal we waited over 15 mins before getting up and asking the person at the register for our bill. I have eaten at this location numerous times spending thousands of dollars over the years. That being said I will never be returning to this location. We even expressed our concern to the management only seeking some type of apology or explanation on why this type of service was acceptable and didn’t even get an answer just told us how much the bill was. Sad and pathetic in my opinion. I know the company can care less about loosing one customer but over time of people reading this review and deciding to eat someplace else the company will...
