I ate a delicious meal recently 2-25-2022] at Jimmy V's Grill & Pub Grandview.
I had been there that evening because a friend of mine had been hosting a "Meet and Greet" event at that location with a woman from Ohio who is running for the U.S. Senate.
My original plan for that evening had been to eat supper somewhere else and then to attend the "Meet and Greet" event at Jimmy V's Grill & Pub Grandview. I then learned [from their website] that Jimmy V's Grill & Pub Grandview serves a great variety of food so I looked at their menu on-line, made my food choice before I had arrived, and then arrived an hour early so that I would be able to eat supper, take some pictures for Google Maps, and then attend the "Meet and Greet" event.
My food choice, "Jimmy V's Mac & Cheese" ["Our creamy pub mac & cheese topped with our grilled house-made sausage, peppers & onions", had been delicious and had been quite different from any other macaroni and cheese that I have ever eaten. The cheese sauce had been white rather than the more-traditional yellow]; the use of sausage in macaroni and cheese had been completely new to me; the noodles had been long "corkscrew" noodles [rather than the traditional "elbow macaroni"].
Sitting next to me at the bar, while I had been eating my macaroni and cheese, had been an older woman who has lived in that neighborhood for her entire life. We spoke, for the next several minutes, about the many different locations in that area where I have visited over the years.
When I told the older woman that I remember my family having eaten at the former Cenci's Italian restaurant [diagonally across the intersection with Glenn Ave. from where we had been sitting] during my childhood [the late 1950s and early the 1960s], she told me that members of the Cenci family were eating at Jimmy V's Grill & Pub Grandview right then. We walked up to the Cenci table; I then spoke with several members of the Cenci family for a brief moment before returning to the bar to finish eating my macaroni and cheese.
The location of the former Cenci's Italian restaurant [1773 W. Fifth Ave.] later became Geem Loong [a Chinese restaurant] and most recently became Peking Dynasty [also a Chinese restaurant.
The "Meet and Greet" with the candidate for the U.S. Senate from Ohio began, several minutes after I had finished my macaroni and cheese, in a room at the east end of the property that appears to be a cigar store during the day and a private dining room for Jimmy V's Grill & Pub Grandview during...
Read moreI purchased an Amazon Local voucher for Jimmy V's and my friend and I went for lunch today. The food was good and the bartender who served us was pleasant. When I presented the voucher, the bartender was not familiar with it or how to use it. She called the manager and after waiting half an hour for him to come to the restaurant he was rude and outright unfriendly. He said that we had to wait 24 hours after purchase to use the voucher - and he would not discount at all. Yet, the amazon local deal has now been revised to state it can be used only 15 minutes after purchase. His reaction and attitude, however, was most shocking that he would completely disrespect a guest in that manner. We will not be going to Jimmy Vs, Michael's Goody Boy Diner or any other restaurant affiliated. BAD management trumps okay food. TO TOP IT ALL OFF, I GIFTED A $150 PAIR OF CRUTCHES TO THE OWNER OUT OF KINDNESS WHEN HE TORE HIS ACL. When I told the manager that, he cussed profanities and said he...
Read moreBeing charged an extra $1.50 for ice in my drink is outrageous! Just regular ice, not a block or ball. The same ice that came for free in my water! Just charge whatever you're going to charge for the drink. We could have accepted that better. It wasn't even worth our time to dispute it because we were just ready to go.
Please just take the calamari off the menu. The sauce it comes with tasted like straight mayonnaise. It was rubbery and tasteless, along with the other food ordered. Why ask how you want your burger cooked if it is going to come out well done anyway?
No one was rude to us like others have experienced, but I can say our waitress was not very attentive. We had to constantly flag her down when there were only about 8 people in the entire establishment. Of all the dining options we take advantage of, this was the most disappointing one we've had in...
