Really interesting experience. The appetizer we purchased were Cajun fries, they weren't really anything special, just thin fries similar to steak and shake with some seasoning powder on them. The main course was interesting, we ordered "The Handful" with the house juicy seasoning mild spice which is the smaller of the two courses and costs $34. It is categorized under "The Experience". It did not leave you with feelings of less than for the cost or what you do experience. So "The Handful" was not a handful of crawfish, shrimp, andouille sausage, and clams, it is in fact measured out into some of these 1lb and others 1/2 a pound, this was enough for both myself and my Partner, who usually eats everything and then some. This left us both stuffed and with leftovers all for $34. I'm sure if the owners cut back 1/4 of the amount this would still be an epic sized meal. The table is decked with a sheet off paper, you are given a bib and gloves. All this utility is to help you encounter the generously portioned and delicious main course. The handful comes out in a bag, that's right a bag. And to be honest I was not sure I would enjoy a meal while wearing a bib, gloves, and a plastic fork that I was to use to dig from a bag, but oh there is delicious sin and no shame in that bag once you start. ( Hint: If you have never had crawfish before ask the ladies how to eat it properly so the guts don't taint the sweet crawfish meat you will enjoy. Or look it up online) There are plenty of other things on the menu such as crab, lobster, mussels, fried baskets etc. and I'm sure they are wonderful, but if you are and adventurous foodie don't pass this place up! I will be returning to this place very soon with more appropriate shoes. The interior was interesting and add to the atmosphere, I would say I'd rather there not be televisions everywhere. If there needs to be tv it's fine to stay at the bar, I personally would have preferred to fully plunged my attention into the food and had a great conversation about it, however I am guilty of being easily distracted with tvs. The handfull is a great way to try to keep your company from checking phones during dinner (especially kids) due to the messy wonderful Cajun explosion at the table, if the owners could remove a few of the tvs it would help you keeping the company you have at the table at...
Read moreThis was my first visit at Boiling Seafood Crawfish. The service was good- borderline great. The place was nice looking inside as well as the atmosphere. There’s a nice size outdoor patio’ish area that is probably nice to sit at on a beautiful day. My husband and I didn’t sit out there because he kind of doesn’t like sitting outside when eating. I specifically came here to compare their Fried Green Tomatoes to a place I go to in Richmond Hill, GA called Melody’s Coastal Cafe and to compare their Shrimp & Grits to both Pappadeaux in Springdale, Oh & Norcross, GA. Starting with their Shrimp & Grits...it’s definitely different in all aspects. It’s red in color (the grits itself and not just from the seasoning juices). It’s served in a very small dish w/medium sizes shrimp and not much of anything else such as sausages and vegetables. I wish I would have thought to take pictures of it. I will say though, the consistency of the grits was nice. The seasoning was okay but not what I expected. The Fried Green Tomatoes were okay. I say that because they are nice in size- both thickness and circumference. However, it didn’t have enough batter to tomato ratio; though, the batter was very good. The tomatoes are served with basic ranch dressing. The Fried Green Tomatoes come with (2) sides...I choose their house salad (not so good at all), which could have been an isolated incident and I had a bake potato w/cheese & sour cream (also not so great). My husband order The Experience: The Ultimate. Now, that was very good. The calamari was breaded, seasoned and cooked perfectly. There was huge crawfish and large shrimp in it and the seasoning was pretty good too. I most likely will go back and get the Templation by the Pound- shrimp w/o the head. Overall it was an...
Read moreCame on a Monday because Kai's was closed and we were craving a seafood boil. I ordered pick up through Doordash.
They are open for dine in/patio and carry out. Seats inside looked to be closer than 6ft and I didnt notice any barriers between seats. Patio seating looked to be more spread out. Servers were frantically running around. One wore his mask down around him chin when not around customers and only covered his mouth (not his nose) around customers. It was very difficult to hear the carryout server over the music, through her mask, and plastic barrier. I didnt see any hand sanitizer or frequent cleaning of surfaces while i waited for my order around 20 min.
We ordered 3lbs snow crab, garlic butter mild and 1 lbs devined headless shrimp juicy Cajun medium.
I prefer Kai's garlic butter no spice. Its legit only butter and garlic, compared to here where it seemed to be more of an orange, oil sauce. I also prefer Kai's cajun; it has more fresh spices. It was a toss up on the shrimp. I liked the option Lee's has for devined shrimp but the shrimp itself didn't taste as good to me; more fishy. The crab itself was comparable to Kai's; meaty and sweet. We also had corn and potatoes. The potatoes were big but the corn was overcooked & mushy. The garlic cheese bread is hoagie buns with garlic butter and melted cheese. The soft shell crab appetizer was unique; the coating had some seasoning and it was served with a spicy tartar sauce.
Lee's provides bibs and gloves where as Kai's provides a paper table cloth and bibs.
Overall I prefer Kai's. I think they benefit from only offering carry out right now. I also prefer their spice blends. But I think its just a matter of...
