Luciana's Mexican Restaurant and Cantina — Restaurant in Columbus

My personal experience with Luciana's has overall been well. I have no genuine complaints, and the customer service excels. I have only attended the store twice during lunch hours and I've received delivery thrice.

I assume they make their own refried beans, since I always order beans but every time, there are... entire Pintos in my beans. Huge no-no for authenticity since it's supposed to result as pasty-smoothe and well-cooked/seasoned; but I can't complain because I treat it like chunky mashed potatoes vs traditional mashed potatoes.

Because I'm ovo-vegetarian, I've been content with ordering a similar/congruent meal to my priors. The only downside is that with every order placed, I've asked if I could have jalapeños included or roasted on the side. Not once has my request been fulfilled, so perhaps this is an establishment that cooks to-the-menu or doesn't communicate well to the kitchen or through tickets.

Otherwise, everything has been represented as expected and the pricing isn't as complex as other menus.

I've taken a friend out to Luciana's and he's a big eater. For the first time ever, he couldn't finish his meal and didn't order dessert (because it was hefty and satisfying as-was). He ordered one of the taco shell salads. He isn't a resident of Columbus but whenever he visits he wants to go to Luciana's.

Also, if you order a "tall" beer, you're going to get a GIANT mug! Might as well order a pitcher!...

09/12/2022: Extortion Alert! Check your card statement if you pay by card.

Had a lunch there with my family. Food was below average. Sat outside as they provide outdoor dining. After we were done I paid them by cash and started walking towards my car when I heard waiter calling me. We stopped as we were confused what might be the reason. Waiter approached me and told that I have to pay 18% tip even though I had paid 10% tip for below average food. On the check it did not say any "mandatory tip" all it showed was "Suggested tip" I followed the waiter inside and told manager about the incident. I was shocked by manager's attitude. He was like why you don't want to pay 18% tip. Stood there and argued but it was not going anywhere. At last paid them more than 18% tip as I had to get back to work.

When we first walked in, there was a huddle of workers at the host station and we were not greeted and stood there for a minute before a waiter walked up and ended up taking us to our seat. Then it took nearly 5 minutes for out waiter to come and get our drink order. Then about 10 minutes later we got our chips after we had asked another waiter to bring them to us. Then not a minute later our food came out. The food was very good and well prepared but after leaving we were not gone for 20 minutes before my girlfriend and I both had to run to the bathroom because we were so sick afterwards.
