This place truly covers all the bases of being a perfect coffee joint! As someone who didn't think I liked coffee before because of the bad aftertaste big chain stores left in my mouth, this place was like experiencing the true flavor for the first time! I could spend all day here, it's just that inviting of a place! The atmosphere is warm and the furnishings are both comfortable and charmingly rustic-chic. The location is central to the heart of downtown Columbus and blends in well with the modern architecture. Lucabes is always innovating and keeping the menu fresh, the baristas leave you feeling like an old friend, and while the business isn't open the entire day, the possibility of extended hours due to an event or musician is an unexpected delight! You are also extremely likely to have spontaneous meetings with your peers! I love that they keep Sunday as a day of rest before beginning the new week, although I do find myself wanting Lucabes and Chic-Fil-A greater on those days! ;) You won't be overwhelmed by the options because the menu is tastefully simple, plus there are always answers to your questions and good recommendations. There's even an area for your little ones to play in which demonstrates the owner's family values and makes the place child and parent-friendly. Community plays a central part in this coffee shop's culture. I highly recommend being adventurous and trying new things, you won't be disappointed. If you haven't tasted the perfection that is their honey lavender latte than shame on me for not writing this review sooner, go...
Read moreThe coffee is fine, I wish they had real cups for dine in, but realize this adds quite a lot of work washing them. However this is not the reason for the poor stars. I have been disappointed since they opened that they are not open on Sundays. The hours are somewhat disappointed to begin with, but how is a coffee shop not open on Sundays?! It seems to me and several people I know that Sunday mornings would be one of the best times to be open! I am very concerned about this new location they are opening. I’m beyond happy to see they are taking advantage of local architecture and embracing this community however if they keep the same hours- the drive through will loose a lot of its purpose in my opinion because people won’t be able to utilize it on their way to work. This means there is no way to compete with Starbucks for the large commuting crowd. My final concern is the Pride Featival…. Lucabees was offered a spot at the festival, and declined. This is suspect as they claim how involved they are in the community. I was very disappointed, but gave them the Benifit of the doubt it was for other reasons than the religious ties. Then people started asking about it, and there has been no comment, social media posts have been removed, and they have been avoiding the whole situation. Their choice is their choice, but I know many are disappointed with this particular choice. If lucabees truely wants to support thier community, they should support everyone in...
Read moreSuch a cute and wonder place! A friend of mine recommended Lucabe since I love coffee and been struggling to find affordable yet tasty coffee near me. Not only do they have a delicious vanilla caramel macchiato but I also came back with my kids and tried a peach mango tea that was superb! The kiddos got the perfect size hot chocolate and they steamed the milk at a lower temp without me even asking so it was ready for them right away. Which I appreciated! We plan to make this a regular stop when we visit Columbus. They also had a breakfast croissant that has egg, sausage, cheese, and peppers so was also amazing. Oh and there is an adorable little two story play area for the littles with bar seating looking in so a parent can bring the littles and enjoy a moment or get some work done! It was a clean and inviting space and bathrooms were well kept. I'll be back soon to try their in...
