We called ahead for a reservation because we had a large group. We agreed on on 7 pm for the group. I had my group size wrong and called back an hour and 20 minutes before 7. Whomever answered the phone asked for my name. Couldn't find us. Asked for my number. Asked if this was for Tiffany. I told her no. She asked again for my name, the time we were and hibachi or dine in.. I answered her questions. She then went through some speel about changing my number. I didn't want to change my number and had no idea what she was talking about. She then asked what was wrong with my order. I was so confused and explained we hadn't even been there yet. She put someone else on the phone who finally got it figured out. We confirmed the 7 pm time. We arrived 15 minutes early and checked in. Was told 15 minutes. We waited about 20 minutes and went to double check and Jati was rude not only to me but her coworkers. She was slamming menus and snarky with someone else bringing out an order. The Manager came out and said it wouldn't be much longer. An hour later I checked again as they clearly weren't seating their big parties. Jati looked at me, ignored me and turned to speak to a coworker. And hour and 15 minutes later after Jati yelled at my husband. The manager intervened and took care of us.There are so many issues with their wait system it was unreal. Their hostesses need seriously need some training on how to handle wait times,, customer service and abetter system for call in reservations. We would have come later. We would have gladly taken a two hour wait. If they would have just been straight and had been honest about the wait time. People walking out after waiting over 2 hours. And being told an hour. It was the worst service we have gotten here . Dinner wasn't much better. We had a great chef but then the grill broke and our food was cooked at another party grill. Two orders were wrong and when the one was fixed the food was raw. When we left we were stared down by the hostesses. It was really...
Read moreThe Manager was RUDE. I was with a party of 8. Several family members had health issues. (We asked to be seated. We were waiting on 1 Person) The Manager REFUSED to seat our party of 7. We sat in an EMPTY WAITING AREA for 20 minutes. There were 4 EMPTY HIBACHI Tables when we were seated. Terrible Customer Service. The food was mediocre. The Hibachi Chefs were Noisy, but NOT entertaining. The only "entertainment" from the 3 different Chefs was A Lot of banging of metal spatulas. Honestly, I know 3yr Olds that are more entertaining and have better rhythm. Our family has at eaten in Hibachi Restaurants all over the world. If you want exceptional food & entertainment, you WILL be DISAPPOINTED.
The 3 appetizers were mostly batter. The tempura shrimp were small salad shrimp. Appetizers are usually made with large not small shrimp. NOT IMPRESSED.
You will receive A LOT of rice instead of meat. No one took food home. (The picture is supposed to be of the Chicken Hibachi dinner. It was mostly Rice and vegetables. VERY LITTLE MEAT. The rice was NOT fried correctly. It was Soft Rice, Eggs And Soy. Anyone could make that at home.) That is not a good sign from a party of 8! I spoke to the couple next to us who ordered Sushi. They were not impressed. The sushi looked sloppy and badly rolled. There was more rice than the anything else in their sushi rolls. We ate sushi the night before in a different restaurant in Columbus. The sushi from that sushi restaurant looked 1000 times better. The couple asked me where that restaurant was because they would not be back to Tacu.
BOTH Male & Female Bathrooms were Dirty & smelled. The bathroom faucets moved (Pictures attached). This is not a place you will want to WASH YOUR HANDS. It took us 5 minutes to recieve for more Paper...
Read moreWe went to Taku on Friday 7/25 we had a group of 5 individuals do the hibachi. We also were seated with two unknown individuals. We were VERY disappointed Friday with the food and service. You could tell the hibachi chef was very new but he did 3 tables before even coming over to ours and he was absolutely working hard! We were disappointed in the food we ordered the sea and land which is typically good portions. We counted how many shrimp, scallops, steak, and chicken we received.
2 scallops 3 shrimps 6 pieces of steak and chicken...
We asked for double noodles and did not receive it. Our sever put our steak well done. Our sever did not refill our drinks we had to ask random servers walking around to get us what we need. We saw our server when we ordered and then check time. Our hibachi chef went a grabbed us napkins in the middle of food because no server was around.
Taku was very very slow for a Friday night so no excuses that the service should have been like this...
We received our check and we were absolutely FLOORED!!! We were charged a party fee.... and on the check it said 6 people or more... we had 5 people. We also got charged for extra noodles and asked for everything to be taken off. The couple that was not with our group was upset as well the server tried to say we were all a group..... let's just say we will NOT be going back to Taku for a VERY long time... this was our favorite place to go for birthdays, anniversary, or special occasions. Absolutely HORRIBLE FRIDAY. We tipped the hibachi chef very good because he was absolutely amazing....
