I kind of rolled into Sweeny's on a very rainy day, with a book in hand and a desire to have a drink before heading home. The book might've been cracked but the conversation got the best of me. Ashley, behind the bar, mixed up artisanal drinks and straight forward beers, placed on the bar. She KNEW the hospitality industry and the two drinks I had were crafted to perfection. Justin, the manager, was mentioning the events they had a'coming with enthusiasm and respect to the existing community in Franklinton. I felt like I could pop in at any time and I would be welcomed, and remembered. Jim Sweeny has a great crew working in his establishment, and even he was sensitive to what makes a community bar while embracing amd supporting the community that already existed. Apparently it used to be someone's home then the owner kept having parties with friends then turned it into a bar. Could be wrong but it's cool. Indoor and outdoor seating. Indoors is pretty cramped tbh but its not well known so usually will have a spot and meet some random to vibe with. Limited beer options fyi. Great staff and overall experience I will gladly come...
