Commerce City is known as the industrial area of the Denver metro area. The refineries, factories, warehouses, truck stops, all this seem like the life blood of this part of town. One thing is definitely not known for, is its culinary scene, and based on the exterior appearance, some of this establishments look questionable. I met a friend for lunch El Taco Stop because it was the closest place between him and me. As I walked in, it looked like a typical Mexican restaurant, with folkloric images painted on the walls. A little confused if I should sit down or walk to the counter. It took a few minutes for the staff to acknowledge my presence and I was told to take a seat.
The server brought the chips and salsa which were pretty standard. After taking a look at the menu I decided to go for the full order (5) of pork chop tacos (after all it is EL Taco Stop) and water (they sell it by the bottle). My food came out fairly fast and to my surprise it did not look like the menu picture. The plate was more than what I though! These tacos were double stacked with tortilla and a generous portion of meat! They also brought three different types of salsa. The meat was well seasoned and cooked to perfection and the salsas were fresh and made from scratch (I personally liked the guacamole salsa). I appreciate the fact that they put the cilantro and onions on the side and also a good amount of limes. I even had to share my order with my friend and we felt we had enough. The only reason I gave it four stars was because of service, I had to stand up and ask for things and they forgot my water.
I would try El Taco Stop again, if I am in the area. I was very satisfied with the food and price. I keep forgetting the lesson of never judging a place because of its location, in this case, I am glad I was wrong,...
Read moreAfter a taco-craving evening, my wife and I decided to try this place out. It's not as fancy-looking as another restaurant around the area but we weren't thrilled about the tacos there anyway. Definitely the best-tasting tacos in Commerce City!!! I had the tripa and my wife had the asada. She said the meat was really flavorful and mine were just the right amount of crispy. They serve your tacos with chopped onion, cilantro, limes and three different salsas to choose from on a different plate. The salsa they serve with the chips was super hot as well which is perfect for my taste. I even had it with my tacos. The place overall looked clean but the benches could use an upgrade. Even though we walked in right before they turned the open sign off, the service was very friendly and we never felt pressured to hurry up and finish. We're definitely goin back to try the...
Read moreGoogle should add a 0 star option . After calling in my order and being told it would be ready in 20 mins I showed up only to wait another 15, no biggie when I finally ask where my order is the lady says idk we lost your ticket, you’re telling me that if I didn’t ask about my order I would be sitting there for 1 hour and no one would say a thing? Asked for a refund after being told no refunds I had to wait for the food I had paid for another 20 minutes all and all 1hr to make 4 tacos and to be honest they’re not all that great, take your business elsewhere , do yourself that favor. When I finally received my order they didn’t seem to care even a little bit which is fine attitude like that is what...
