We had a really disappointing visit. When we walked in, two hostesses were deep in conversation and didn’t greet us right away. Once they noticed us (a party of six), the hostess acted visibly annoyed that she’d have to "make something work." My 5-year-old spotted a table by the bar that had enough seats, and we asked if that was okay. She agreed, so we sat.
Now, I get that maybe that section wasn’t part of their usual plan, and that the bartender seemed to be doing double duty – handling drinks and all the tables in that area. That’s a lot, and I truly sympathize. But we waited 20 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us.
What really stung was watching a group that walked in just behind us get seated, served drinks, and even receive food before we were helped – and we had young kids with us.
When we finally ordered (everything at once because of the wait), the food was slow, and my mom’s dish was wrong. The bartender was kind, apologized, and fixed it – she was honestly the only one who seemed to care at all. My own dish, the chicken penne, was awful. The chicken didn’t taste like real chicken, and I couldn’t eat it. No one checked in on us during the meal, even though the manager – dark hair, wearing a red and black plaid shirt – walked past us multiple times without a word. She wasn’t helping staff or checking in with guests. Just wandering.
When we were ready to pay, no one came back. We waited again. Eventually, some of us just left because we’d already wasted enough time on bad service and bad food. My mom paid for everyone as the rest of us headed out.
To be clear: the bartender did her best. She was doing way too much on her own. But there were other staff around – a second server, the two hostesses, and a manager – none of whom stepped in to help. This isn’t a staffing issue. It’s a leadership and training issue.
Really unfortunate visit. We won’t be back. Apple bees overall do better serving real food, and...
Read moreWell I'll say the food was good. Good job cooks. We did curb side to go, and the first time they came out they missed two entrees. No problem, called the number on the sign, asked for the remainder of our meal. Manager came out, let us know she'd packed our bags herself, and that we had our food. So we rifled through the bags, cuz hey, maybe we'd misidentified what we had, things happen. But nope, still only half our order. She goes in to check, some minutes pass, out comes one of the missing entrees. Just one. The staff inside and I make eye contact, and I shake my head. The manager comes out again and insists that we have our food. Again, we do not. She says she already gave it to us. We show her the bags, offer to let her search our car, genuinely inquire as to where we would of put it. If we were gonna try to get a free meal, wouldn't we be trying to get another steak? She finally agrees to go get us the entree (a salad, btw) - or in her words, "another" salad. Some 10/15 minutes later, 30 mins after we initially arrived on time, we finally got our complete order, and headed out.
I would not be surprised at all if the gentleman in the car next to us when we got our initial round of meals isn't terribly surprised when he gets home with a salad and a chicken sandwich.
I just wanted my food. I didn't ask for a discount, I didn't throw a fit. I understand it was a busy time (5:30 on a Saturday night) and stuff happens. I've been a line cook. My husband is a line cook. I just wanted the remainder of my order. 2/10, won't ever go to that applebees for a car side to go ever again, because apparently I will toss a salad out the window/eat it blindingly fast and demand another. I just do not know where she thought I was putting it. I don't mean to screw up their times or overhead. I just want what I paid for. And perhaps less aggression when...
Read moreI hate to say it, but tonight was the straw that broke the camels back. We've lived in this area for most of our adult lives, and we've watched this Applebee's go down hill. When they first opened it was a good place for a meal. Eventually, the quality started to slip. In the past few years, we've seen silverware so bad with food particles still on them. We would only eat there if we got plastic utensils. So we had stopped going for years. Reciently, we decided to try this Applebee's again. We shouldn't have wasted or time.
Tonight, the hostess seated us at a booth, where we found the table top AND the seats were covered with the remnants of a large spill of soda. You could tell by the haphazard cleanup that someone just doesn't care about customer satisfaction. I showed the mess to the male waiter, and heard him ask one of the bus people to clean the table. We sat at the next booth. I couldn't help but notice the bus person totally ignored the mess. I was expecting the hostess to seat another customer at the messy booth. I finally told her to have it cleaned. They sprayed it down and mildly wiped it off with a paper towel.
Our meal was marginal in quality and overpriced for what we got. We got our drinks in paper cups with the excuse that they didn't have enough clean glasses. The waiter had to go to the kitchen to get us silverware because the hostess had not provided any, and there was none at the hostess stand. For a professionally run restaurant, this is just a bit much. Not to mention the overflowing urinal and other un mentionable conditions in the mens restroom.
We will absolutely never dine at this...
