My wife and I came here looking to try a new place on our last night before moving away from Kalamazoo. That was a mistake... We were sat at a booth and a young waitress came and took our order. She was practically clueless about the menu. We asked simple questions like "what do people like here?" and "what do you recommend?", neither of which could she provide a reassuring answer for. I was contemplating between the chicken tender appetizer and the tender platter and she couldn't tell me how many tenders came with each one... Very uncertainly, I decided to do the "Pick 3" appetizer option as my main course. It was just before 9pm when we ordered and our food did not arrive until after 9:30. So we waited nearly 40 minutes and when it arrived I could not even hide how unimpressed I was. The meal placed in front of me did not match the description of what I ordered on the menu, lacking both fries and tortilla chips, which she only told me were not included as part of the "Pick 3" promotion after I received the food, despite being part of the menu item's description. I'm not sure my meal was worth even half of what I would have been charged. My wife's burger and fries was just as unimpressive. It resembled the portion size of a kid's meal and looked unappetizing. I kindly and immediately expressed that the meal delivered was far below my expectations. With hardly a glimpse of sympathy, our waitress didn't have much to offer in the way of resolutions. Trying to make it as simple as possible, I asked that my meal be exchanged for the platter instead. Fries and some extra sides for $1 more was the biggest difference. She unempathetically took my plate back to the kitchen. It would have been nice if I could have at least started eating the chicken that I had with my wife but instead my wife and I waited other 7-8 minutes then decided this is not the experience we wanted to have for our last dinner in the city. So we went up to the manager to explain that we were going to leave and why. She was not rude, but not very empathetic either. Despite waiting in plain site at the front for a bit then proceeding to make our way to her through the restaurant, making eye contact along the way, she extended no effort to meet us in the middle. After finally making our way to her, our waitress also decided it was a good time to come over so we didn't really feel comfortable explaining that the quality of service was our biggest complaint... We ended up going next door to Los Amigos instead, where we already had several great experiences, and had a great ending to our...
Read moreI asked @ Borgess hospital where there was a good place 2 eat around the Kalamazoo area. The tech told us about this SWEET spot. We arrived after lunch hour & was immediately greeted by Carly. She allowed us 2 choose a table of our choice & took our beverage order. She returned with 2 LARGE pops. 😳 We were told about the specials of the day which made our choice even more difficult. Be prepared to decide what 2 choose!! The placemats is 2 sided & offers so MANY delicious sounding choices. U need 2 use an inkpin so u can circle your choices & narrow it down. I ordered the black pub with sweet potato fries. It came on a sub bun that was piled high with roast beef, cheese, sauteed onions, lettuce & tomato. The roast beef was so moist, juicy, tender, & absolutely delicious!!! Although I wanted more I could only eat half. I was also brought a honey mustard dressing 4 my sweet potato fries. I was a little reluctant 2 try it but, it's no mistake. U can't go wrong. John ordered the 8 oz.., olive burger which came deluxe & sliced red onion. He could only eat half with his fries. Thaaaan, we were asked about dessert?? Even though there was a lemon mousse cake, I thought I had better watch my calories.😇 Well that was wrong😂😂 John ordered the chocolate cake. It was layered with fudge between the 4 layer's. And 2 gild the lily, Carly presented it with little stars of whipped cream on it. I was offered some cake & all I can say is WOW. 💋💓 I tried 2 stop 😋🤭🤫😱2 no avail. Carly is such a wonderful server & someone who seems 2 enjoy her job which shows in her service. Food was fantastic, affordable & we felt very welcomed. I will definitely drive from Wayland next time & bring some friends along. Save us a spot....
Read moreI just want to say that I have worked in the food industry, and I was struggling with this decision on leaving a bad review. I have been to all the kalamazoo Main Street Pub's. I very much enjoy the atmosphere, food, and service. I happened to stop in on this last Monday night to have a drink with my friend and play a little keno. It started off normal, good service and enjoyable atmosphere. About 10 minutes into having a drink and enjoying my friends company, the music changed over to some vulger rap music that wasn't being played off the juke box. I am not sure what station it was on, but the bartender, and her coworkers/friends had the music turned way up, and playing songs that repeatedly said vulger words that where not something I would ever hear at a family restaurant. They played their music , without a manager stepping in, for about 40 minutes when they decided to plug their phones into the stereo, and continue treating the building like their personal club. My friend and I where struggling to have a normal conversation without having to yell at each other. He finally said something, not in a very nice manor, but they changed the music for a few songs. Until one of the girls that seemed like a worker or maybe she was a regular when over to the jukebox to play more rap. I was only relieved that it was edited.
I am putting this up so that maybe the management or the owner will step in, and handle it before it is something that continues, and forces people to stop choosing the Gull Rd Main Street Pub. Or maybe they won't do anything, it will continue, and someone else will buy the building and put a better...
