Avenue's Restaurant — Restaurant in Concord

I've been meaning to stop by here for a while but I could never catch them with my schedule. Right now they're only open on the weekend Friday thru Sunday. We randomly stopped by yesterday and now I'm mad I waited so long. It's a small homey place with a comforting southern feel. The menu has a variety of popular soul food items as well as dessert. The dessert changes often from what I've heard. The prices are really decent and the service was amazing. I love supporting local shops so this being a hidden gem and right around the corner made me really happy. I had the flounder dinner with two sides, yams and Mac and cheese. All made from scratch and ridiculously delicious. My wife had the daily chicken and rice special with onions and gravy along with 2 sides fried squash and collard greens. I relocated to Concord, NC from NY over a year ago, and since then have been on the search for a good SOULfood spot! For months I knew of Avenue’s Restaurant but was skeptical about visiting because of so many let downs at other “soul food restaurant”. Today, November 5th I decided to finally visit Avenue’s, and let me tell you…. I’m glad I did! EVERYTHING that I ordered was AMAZING!!! After getting home and eating my food I HAD to call the ladies at the front desk therr and let them know how good the food was!!

I had the fried chicken wing dinner with potato salad, collard greens, candied yams and baked Mac n cheese and the Fried Whiting dinner with potato salad and baked Mac n cheese! It was ALL devoured within minutes of getting home!

Trust the reviews, the food is amazing and VERY...

We tried the fried pork chops, Mac and cheese, greens, cabbage, potato wedges, yams & baked beans. They sold out of the potato salad so I'm assuming it's good too. Everything was really good. The breading falls off the pork chops, but they're still really good (be careful of bone pieces though I got quite a few tiny ones). I only took a star away because they forgot part of our order and I saw them forget stuff from someone else's order and also someone called over the phone for missing food. Other than saying double check your food before you walk out and check for bone pieces, definitely give them a try because everything tasted great! Very friendly staff too and fast and polite about fixing missing food...
