This is a review for a dinner and then breakfast experience. Dinner reservations are strongly encouraged so we made ours for 7:30 pm on a Saturday night. It was very convenient as we were staying at the Inn. The dining room was filled with wooden tables, but there was no particular ambiance which was fine as we wanted concentration on the food. Dinner: We ordered the chicken Marsala and the 14 oz NY steak. The steak came with blue cheese like topping with sauteed onions piled on top. While it looked great, that was not the description nor what was ordered. Our server never came back in time to try to correct. The steak was cooked to the requested medium rare and was tender and flavorful. The broccoli was fine, potatoes meh. The chicken Marsala was moist with a great tasting sauce, and the green beans were fantastic. The portion sizes were great. Service was fine and the server was pleasant, but he missed checking in to see if all was ok or if we needed more drinks or anything else until we were more than halfway into the meal. Instead of giving us the check when we asked for take home containers, he gave us the dessert menu. It took way too long to get the check. Breakfast: only served from 8-10. We were seated right away and provided with waters. It took at least 10 minutes before our order was taken. We ordered an omelette and a Eggs Benedict with English muffin well done. Both came with crispy potatoes. It took over 30 mins to get our breakfast. The eggs were over cooked, not even near enough Hollandaise sauce, and muffins were barely browned and not well done. However, crispy potatoes were a hit surprise. The waitress did come by when we were taking our last bites to ask if all was ok. We asked for the check and our waitress could not be found to pay it. No other staff could cash us out. 10 mins later she is found and tells up that the restaurant does not deal in coins so the bill was rounded up 43 cents-in the restaurants favor. What?!!! She was quite rude about our protestation of this unethical and illegal practice so she threw a dollar back at us. 3.5 stars for food 2 stars for service -5 stars for illegally rounding up the bill I...
Read moreThe food and service were a 5/5. The atmosphere was a 1/5 The bugs made it so low. Average the two and you get 3/5. When my husband and I went there we hoped to be seated inside but it was full so outside it was. We thought that it would be fine but wow were we wrong. I have 29 mosquito bites on my right foot and 13 on my left. And my husbands legs are covered! We were bug dive bombed throughout the meal. My table and at least 3 others asked if there was bug spray or anything they could put out to help with the bugs. They didn’t have anything. My strong suggestion is wear bug spray and for the restaurant to at least put citronella candles out on the tables. Do something to help the patrons out a little. The staff was kind and sympathetic and said around 8/8:30 the bugs get really bad. That being said that means the restaurant knows that this is an issue so again I implore them to please put something in place to help with the bugs. There are so many natural ways to mitigate mosquitoes that it seems silly for them not to have things in place. Citronella candles, lemongrass...

Dining at this historic restaurant is always a special experience. Its outdoor patio is nothing short of magical, offering the perfect blend of charm, comfort, and ambiance that makes every meal memorable. Whether you’re enjoying a summer evening under twinkling lights or soaking in the scenery during the day, the setting alone is worth the visit.
What truly sets this place apart, however, is the exceptional service—especially from the host, Scott. He is the heart of the experience: warm, welcoming, and incredibly attentive. From the moment we arrive, Scott makes us feel like old friends. He goes above and beyond to ensure every detail is just right, and it’s clear he takes genuine pride in making each guest feel valued.
We’ve returned time and again not just for the food and setting, but because we know we’ll be treated with care. Scott’s hospitality is a rare find and a big reason why this historic spot continues to thrive well into the modern day.
Highly recommend—five...
