Mama Sushi & Bowl — Restaurant in Concord

This place is less than 1 mile from where I live & I can't believe I am just now finding out about it. The food is REALLY good! So much better than any other Japanese I've had in Concord. What's equally great about this place is the owners & staff. My first time there I ordered 3 dishes for dinner to take home. The waitress/hostess who took our order was so welcoming & friendly. It's genuine too you can tell. There is no dining in right now due to covid of course but after you order they let you wait in your car for your food. When it's ready they bring it outside to your car for you which is really nice I think. I haven't seen any other restaurants that do that. When she gave us our food she told us that her Mom made us something special that's good to have with one of the dishes we ordered and they gave it to us for free! When we got home and opened the bag, each container inside had a handwritten note in red ink on it with instructions for the free dish they had included and then signed "Love, Mama!". The sushi is pretty good here. Flavor wise I would give 4.5 stars. The texture of the rice is inconsistent depends on if they are busy or not hence 0.5 star deducted. The service is nice, the owner does care their customers which I can tell. The only issues I have is that most of the time, I have communication issue with the owner. Either it is language barrier or if I may talk too fast, they struggle to get the orders right. But, that being said, I know they really tried their best. Try to have them repeat the order and double check so you wouldn't feel shocked when the order came out wrong. They are doing a great job as for COVID 19 precaution policy. Easy to miss, it is the next two driveways after the Chase Bank entrance. Wonderful full picture menu. We tried the fried shrimp pops, 2 rolls and a 2 item dinner of sashimi and bolgagi pork. The shrimp pops were just fun: shrimp battered and fried served on a stick. Our 2 rolls were baked "American style" creations. The Lion King Roll reminded me of a Salmon Thermador. The Green Dragon roll ( im guessing at the name) was crispy with good avacado flavor. The sashimi slices were generously large and the bolgagi was tasty and not mouth burn spicy.
