Parkway House Family Restaurant — Restaurant in Concord

I used to visit this restaurant just about every week. We had a problem with service during time of COVID. When ordering, we were not told that the prices went up so much, nor was it posted on the menu or anywhere at restaurant. Well, after a battle of no one being able to explain why this was, we just dodn't go back for about 2 months. The next time we went, we experienced another problem. After placing a drive thru order, when we got there and picked, got home, the order was incorrect. Again we went to mgmt and asked what the problem was...no answer. I hadn't been in over a year and we thought we would try one more time. I placed an online order, was told that due to a specific item, it would take 25 to 30 mins...no problem. I get to resturant and drove to window. I waited approximately 4 mins and then I cracked open the window and hollered "HELLO". The girl that came to help was actually just sitting in the both right in front of the drive thru I think eating. She came, asked my name, said just a moment and went to find my order. Now, by this time it has been 35 minutes since I ordered. She came back to window and gave me a total, I paid and she said it would be a few minutes. Guess what...total time from ordering to leaving with food...57 mins...FORREAL??? I asked why it took so long and I was given the reply...we have a new cook!!!! No more...

Searched on- line for something different as I had business in the area. The food was horrible! I ordered the Fried Chicken with mashed potatoes and fried okra. The waitress said that it would take twenty minutes for the chicken so I ordered the potato skins with no bacon. The potato "skins" were undercooked and was like a baked potato cut in half. There was too much of the potato left in it. They didn't have chives and the sour cream was in a pack. I hoped that it was not an indication of what was to come; it was. The chicken was fried much too hard and has absolutely no seasoning on it. The supposedly homemade mashed potatoes were bland and too thin. The fried okra was not seasoned and not fried hard enough. Additionally, it must have been cooked when the chicken was started because it was cold. The cornbread was dense and hard like it had been fried. My daughter had the fried pork chop. It was very light in color and looked like a big, crispy bubble. She had it taken off. She said the collard greens were not seasoned but the macaroni and cheese was decent. My husband and I haven't been here for a long, long time (since we were dating!) I guess we forgot about it. I'm not sure why because our total experience this morning was wonderful!! First, kudos to Mallory for taking great care of us... She arrived at the table with this huge smile 😁 and that started our day off on the best foot!! She was so easy to speak with her. Mallory's people and communication skills are A1! We even found out we have mutual friends!

The food was so good. Honestly I was a little concerned when we arrived because I thought the eggs might be slippery-slidey (!) with boiled potatoes BUT they were completely the opposite: Everything was cooked to perfection and to how we requested.

I ordered two eggs, bacon and toast. My husband ordered the Philly steak omelet. We both really enjoyed it all!

The total cost for both of us was about $35, not including our tip for Mallory... It was all worth it!

We're looking forward to being back here again, much more often!
