Sonic is a restaurant that I begrudgingly return to occasionally. I have always had good experiences with the employees at this location and my main gripes deal with the food and order accuracy. For the most part, their food is terrible with a few exceptions I'll note later. The drinks are typically very good and the customization you can do on them makes some very interesting and unique treats.
The limeades are my go-to drink. I have mixed and matched many different flavors and they usually turn out fantastic. One issue I have had at this location--a total of five times now--is that when I order a limeade, they end up bringing me a slushie. I don't care for slushies very much. I was able to catch it one time and they promptly corrected it, but the other four times I had already driven away. So, if you're particular about the kind of drink you want, make sure to taste it before you drive off.
The food is where my biggest problems lie. For the quality you are getting, the prices are way too high. I don't eat red meat so I can only attest to the sides and chicken items on the menu. Everything is very clearly frozen and just dumped into a deep fryer. My main problem is that I don't think I have ever gotten anything fresh here. It is always lukewarm and tastes as if it has sat in a pool of its own grease under a hot lamp for an hour.
The fries are nothing special. The tater tots are the bomb if you get them hot. The mozzarella sticks are exactly like ones you could get from the grocery store, but the cheese is always solid because they aren't ever fresh. One excellent item is the pretzel twists. When you get those fresh, they are heavenly.
The chicken is mediocre. The "crispy tenders" are inaptly named as they are not crispy. They're frequently oddly shaped so you're getting way too much breading. The popcorn chicken is okay, but about 1/3 of the pieces are essentially just breading.
As far as the upkeep of the restaurant, the parking lot and driveways constantly have potholes. When exiting at the exit where you are looking directly at KFC, there are giant shrubs which make it impossible to see traffic coming from the right, making it dangerous if you are turning left out of that exit. I don't know if Sonic has control over those bushes or if it is the business next to them so I have not factored this issue into my overall rating as it might not be Sonic's fault.
Overall, I would stick with the drinks at Sonic and maybe hit up the Bojangles, KFC, Taco Bell, or Cookout for food, all of which are in view...
Read moreSonic is normally a fun-filled late night adventure for my friends and me, but the poor quality of this restaurant, if you could call it that, was completely unacceptable. I pulled into a stall at approximately 8:06 pm and pressed the red button indicating that I was ready to order. I sat with the screen informing that someone would take my order “soon” but that was not the case. I sat there until a worker put out a sign pointing out that from that moment on service would be drive through only. I assumed that since I had already been sitting in my stall with the red button flashing for 29 minutes I would be served before they completely switched over to drive through only. I was not served, the button stopped flashing, and when I pressed it again they told me that it would only be drive through for the rest of the night. When I asked why I would not be served where I had been sitting for half an hour I got no further explanation. I was upset! I backed out of the spot I had vacated for 30 minutes and pulled into the drive through where I waited in line for 8 minutes before even making it to the speaker and they told me “we’ll be right with you.” They we’re not right with me. It took another 13 minutes for someone to simply tell me it would take another 15 minutes for my order to be completed. When I inquired why she simply responded that they only had one cook (and it was said with much attitude). She did not even consider the fact that I may just want a slushie. YOU DO NOT COOK SLUSHIES! I then questioned why I sat for half an hour in my stall without being served and I again received no response. That is simply not acceptable, but sonic thinks it is. Appalled at the complete lack of customer care and service I proclaimed that “This is stupid” and I drove away to a fun-filled late night adventure at chick fil a south hickory. There I was treated like family. I hate sonic now. I will never return. I will never recommend. And I most certainly will never choose it again even if it is the last...
Read moreWorst place ever. We sat at the order station for 20 minutes for them to ask us “how can I help you” TWICE and when we would start ordering, we would get no response after. Finally we drove around to the drive through (we were the only one in line) and said “hello” multiple times. After 15-20 min they finally offered to take our order. There is no organization on ordered and cooperate obviously does not care because every review on here mentions how slow the service is. It’s crazy! The staff has no urgency and I get its fast food but we got here at 7:05pm and it’s 7:50 and haven’t even gotten our food yet. This is ridiculous. They should close down honestly like all other sonics around if they aren’t going to have decent staff and an urgency to help customers. We just saw 2 people pull right up to the windows and order immediately after pressing the buttons so I’m a little confused. We asked for the manager and spoke to her and explained we have seen at least 5 staff members and we should be at least told “hey, we will be right with you” but no. We got no communication. It was by far the worst customer service. The girl who brought our food was sweet and the manager offered a refund (which we didn’t take) but she looked no older than early 20’s and she said she just got the headset which should’ve been addressed sooner. The customer behind us reached out her window to complain as well. Something should be done or it...
