Pho An & Sushi Bar — Restaurant in Conroe

This is an excellent Vietnamese restaurant with great food and service! This is one of my top favorite restaurants in the area! I had a really great dining experience here, even though they were busy! This restaurant really exceeded my expectations, and I would give them 10 stars out of 5 if I could! Walking in, we were greeted and available to choose our own table to sit at. Staff quickly arrived at our table and took our orders and returned with our drinks quickly. With no exaggeration, they returned with our meals within 5 minutes!?! I think they serve food faster than most fast-food restaurants! That is not an exaggeration. We ordered the P2 everything flow, a order of Curry Beef with fried rice and a California Sushi roll. Wanted to kind of get a good spread on their food for sampling: *The P2 was a nice amount of food to satisfy a very hungry person. It came with a delicious broth, plenty of noodles and plenty of meats! It was served with a side of fresh and crisp sprouts, basil, peppers and lime wedges. The broth was fantastic and not salty (about $13). *The Curry Beef was delicious (not too spicy) and came in a thick curry sauce that also had whole snow peas and sliced carrots. The fried rice was also very delicious (about $12). *The California roll was fresh and a generous portion of eight pieces (about $7). Not only was the food great, but the staff and management here is perfect! The staff was attentive and really put effort into making sure that guests have a great dining experience! I think all restaurants should operate their staff as well as Pho An. The dining area was clean, and each table was well stocked with utensils and condiments. Another plus of this restaurant is that normally at Vietnamese restaurants you are served a can of drink but here they have fountain drink and continue to refill your drinks. I HIGHLY recommend Pho An in Conroe and give them two BIG deserved thumbs up for setting a gold standard for restaurants! The worst Vietnamese and Japanese food I've ever had, Chinese was simply edible. I NEVER throw away food and we had to throw away almost all of our order .

I always tell myself not to even bother with restaurants that do too many things. I wish I would have listened to my own advice. I was craving Vietnamese, and there really aren't many options in this area. The bean sprouts were moldy, so I dumped those out of my vermicelli bowl (BTW chicken is also lemongrass even though the menu doesn't say this). I don't know how they cook or store their rice noodles, but they were awful. I'm not even sure how you do that. Very poor quality chicken also. Had to throw away an entire vermicelli bowl.

Also got the rice paper spring rolls. Again, filled with moldy bean sprouts so those had to go straight to the trash. I've eaten tons of Vietnamese and never in my life seen bean sprouts in them.

Sushi was extremely poor quality, don't bother.

Lastly, sesame chicken was unlike any other sesame chicken I've ever had. It was not good, simply edible. The chicken quality on this was not awful but not good. The sauce was way too sweet and didn't seem to have any sesame at all. It seems they deep fry their chicken, rather than pan frying with cornstarch, so it was really like sugar coated chicken nuggets.

UPDATED: 2024 After 3 years of my previous review, we thought of giving this place another try, but OMG! Not only the price has increased, but the service was horrible compared to what we had experienced three years before. The male server (with glasses and a ponytail) who was at the sushi bar came to serve us as they were short staffed. He had the most horrible attitude ever! At that time the restaurant wasn’t too busy but not only he served with a sour face but with a condescending tone as he was taking our orders. This place used to be so good, with nice people but now, it’s sad that everything is going down. Well, this will be the last time we dine here until they change ownership.
