Rana's Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Conroe

I was skeptical of the high rating for this restaurant -- until I tried the food! The roasted salsa was not spicy, but tasty. The chips where thick and crunchy like my wife prefers, though I prefer thinner/lighter ones. But, the pork tamale may have been the best I've ever had! They brought a green avocado sauce that was spicy and delicoius, which I used on my salad, beans, and rice. The owner, Carlos checked on us and let us know his restaurant is a third generation business with family recipes passed down. Carlos said everything is cooked fresh to order so it takes a little longer to come out versus places that may serve quickly, but it was worth the wait. It was not very busy when we went on Sunday, and not a large place, but the food was worth the visit. I had the select-your-combo with a fresh shredded chicken burrito with queso, a cheese enchilada, and a pork tamale, with salad, refried beans, and Spanish rice. Fourth time ordering soup for pick up. Always give plenty of time for preparation but even when I wait 10-15 to show uo, I still have to wait for them to package up order?? Why bother calling in? Chicken soup flavor is great, but increasingly less chicken and more broth. Last time, mostly broth which is pathetic for $15!

Small amount of fresh pico and avacado, which are nice, but we are done here. I called to order soup, yet again and I mentioned what happened the last time regarding basically no chicken, a couple shreds, in the last order. I was simply told all orders have the same amount of shreds (which is untrue as my first bowl had chunks) and my other orders all had more. But, as a repeat customer from right nextdoor, I feel like my loyalty and patronage dont matter, which is why I have edited my stars to my stars to one. This was my 3rd visit to Rana's Mexican Grill. The last 2 visits the food was fantastic and served with a smile. The visit I had yesterday with my family was not. Took my Mom and Daughter to lunch and will not return. The waiter didn't even make eye contact while we ordered and was very rude. The Guacamole I ordered for my Mom came out a brownish color. Then we received our order. My Mom's taco salad had more grease on top of it than vegetables. My Mom only took a few bites of her's. My daughter's Burrito dinner came out with the sour cream running off the plate. It tasted bad she didn't even take more than 2 bites. I ordered the Shrimp Quesadillas and the sour cream and guacamole on it was running and brown. Needless to say I had a $42.00 and very unsatisfied meal.
