One of the few great places for takeout in the Montgomery area. We have ordered takeout twice online and our orders were almost perfect... I’ll get to that in a moment. We love the spare ribs (although they only had baby backs this week), baby backs are most and meaty, we love I their pulled pork sandwiches, their moist brisket is one of the few in the area that is actually moist (vs dried out. The moist (not lean) brisket sammies are great; even better take some meat from each of the pork and beef sammies to make 2 combo sandwiches. It’s the perfect solution to combine the texture of both the pulled pork And the brisket with both their original and sissy sauce. We love the barbecue here as it is well seasoned but not over smoked like many in the area. Their sides are pretty tasty, as well. We like to get the beans and add a fee spices of our own to create more of a baked bean but they are super flavorful on their own. They are slightly spicy And have small pieces of beef brisket in them. Their cream corn is pretty good but I would prefer if they used fresh crisp corn (cutting off the cob would work). Both of the times that we have ordered it, the corn has been a bit overly dry and gummy rather than sweet and crisp. I will continue to order it despite its deficiencies in hopes they will step it up and either stop cooking it until the corn dies a long, gummy mushy death. Their potato salad is excellent. We love it but would love it more if they added more eggs to it. Perhaps I will ask if they can add extra hard boiled egg next time. Food for thought. Now for the bad part. The absolute worst part of our meal was the baked potato which should have been baked until it was light And fluffy. what we received was a supremely undercooked potato that was sliced lengthwise in half. It’s insides were inedible. You couldn’t even smash up the potatoes with a fork. It was broken up into what looked like rocks of gummy potato. The pieces of potato that were there upon slicing were rock shaped firm gluey pieces They were hard gummy gluey that couldn’t even been saved by salt butter pepper cheese sour cream and fresh crisp bacon. Literally they were inedible and went to the trash. I want to recommend they skip the microwave And bake them at high temp for an hour. A microwaved potato will never create a light fluffy interior. Bottom line the baked potatoes suck...a. Lot!!!! One Butter from each of it’s and They are garbage binned. That a very expensive Bite! They were inedible And were not even palatable after loading up with expensive toppings such as butter sour cream bacon chives. We tried hard but they were beyond saving And very DRY! Straight to the garbage bin. Rudy’s should truly rework their potato baking process as from what I’ve seen, it doesn’t work at all. Re desserts, their banana pudding is great although I’d like to have an option to not have whipping cream overtake the dessert. It has the requisite banana And wafers; it just needs 1/4 cup less of that whipping cream topping. Their buttermilk pie reminds me of grandmas depression era cooking: it’s sweet And chewy but don’t care for the crust as it could benefit from a reconceptualization. Would be nice to order banana pudding by the pint or even a quart with the cool...
Read moreHad breakfast tacos this morning. Had two with beans, eggs, bacon and cheese. I love their bbq so I thought I would try the breakfast. What a disappointment, 1 of my tacos had barely any beans while the other had enough for 3 tacos. They needed to split it between the 2 and not just on 1. There was hardly any cheese on either one of them. I paid almost $10 for both tacos and a large drink so I thought well maybe their big tacos. Nope they were average size you can get from any taco place for less then half the price. Needless to say I won’t be back for their tacos I will give their lunch menu a try and see if it’s as good as the other ones. However I would go somewhere else for breakfast tacos
Ok here’s an update: I have never been so embarrassed in my life. So I gave you a review on google and you asked that I email you directly, so I did. You replied and sent me a card for $25 to give you another chance. So I got it in the mail today, thank you so much by the way. So I go back to the store tonight and present the card to pay for my meals. Well the card didn’t work. So a gentleman, Christopher, Came over and tried to get it to work. I think he’s a manager or something. After trying several times and it still didn’t work he asked me how much was on it. I told him I understood it to be $25 and it came from the corporate office. He said are you sure I said yes I’ll even bring you the card I got with it. He said no that’s ok I trust you. He is great by the way he handled a customer issue perfectly. You however made me embarrassed because there were a lot of customers around and they could over hear the entire transaction. Poor customer service on your part but hats off to Christopher he took care of me when his own companies home office failed a customer. By the way the sandwiches and cobbler...
Read moreI ate there for the first time. I had Baby Back ribs, corn of the cob and potato salad. First off, the place is not kind to handicapped people. The handicapped parking lot is on the side of the building with no door. It's a bit of a hike to the front door. Lots of parking near the front door just no handicapped spots. The next unfriendly item is the seating. It is picnic tables. The problem with the tables is that they are bolted together and the seats don't move. It's very hard for a handicapped person to swing a leg over without falling. I got my food in a small plastic holder like milk or bottle soda is delivered in. A little weird. The bottom was covered with a piece of wax paper. It was about 40degs outside; but, inside they had all the ceiling fans going and it was very cold. After sitting I realized there was no condiments. No salt and paper shakers, no napkins no nothing. I went to the condiment bar never could find the napkins. My choice on the BBQ sauce which came in little packets was Sissy or something else. No idea which is hot. I choose the wrong one. Went back to the table and looked for a server to come by and bring me some napkins. No one came. I realized they had them nailed to many of the posts in the place. Went a got one and by the time I got back my food was cold. The potato salad was meh...average much like what you get in the cooler at Kroger's, the Baby Back ribs were average; but, tasted worse as they were cold, a little fatty for my taste but they were tender. The corn, OMG, it tasted like it had been sitting in water for 5 or 6 days. It was nasty. I disliked it so much I took it back and asked for my money back. Got ready to leave, asked for a to go sack and was handed a piece of wax paper. Are you serious....
