I had an unfortunate experience at Amore that left a sour taste on my birthday celebration. Despite hearing stories about how a restaurant can ruin your day, I had never personally experienced it. I called ahead to make a reservation for a party of 8 at the bar, and I was particular about where I wanted to sit. The person on the phone seemed understanding and even suggested that I check their Facebook page to choose my preferred spot. However, I insisted that I already knew exactly where I wanted to sit because I had been to the restaurant multiple times before. To make my birthday even more unique, I requested a custom coconut cake for eight people, which the person on the phone agreed to. Excited about the celebration, I arrived at the restaurant on time. However, upon arriving, the lady at the front recommended that I sit on the patio instead of the bar, where I specifically reserved to sit. This sudden deviation from my reservation was disappointing and frustrating. My preferences were not taken into consideration despite the clear communication beforehand. The ambiance and atmosphere at the bar were what I was looking forward to, and being directed to the patio and the lady insisting that I never specified where I wanted to sit took away from the experience I had anticipated. It would have been appreciated if the restaurant had communicated this to me in advance. It would have allowed me to adjust my expectations and make an informed decision. Instead, I felt caught off guard and disappointed on a day that was meant to be remarkable. After talking to the guests I invited, we decided to sit on the patio because I was left with no choice. Another disappointing experience at this restaurant was the inappropriate behavior of the waiter. He disrespectfully commented to one of my male guests, asking him, "I guess you are covering the ladies' bills?" This remark showed a lack of respect towards that individual and made the other guests feel uncomfortable as if their ability to cover their bills was being questioned. It would have been more appropriate for the waiter to ask how we wanted to split the bill or treat each guest equally. By the way, I never got the coconut cake I requested. No management came to check on us or apologize for their mistakes. I have celebrated two birthdays at this place and brought friends for drinks and dinner. All I can say is thank you, Amore restaurant, for ruining my...
Read morePoor service. Mediocre food. We arrived early in the service, 4:30 in the afternoon. The hostess seemed shocked that we did not have a reservation and had to call someone else to help get us seated. 4 adults and two children. We were walked to the back where only two other parties were seated. And the rest of the restaurant was fairly empty. I guess she didn't like our attire - shorts and t shirts, We had two children with us, but no children's menu were provided, so we thought there was no children's menus. We later learned that there was a children's menu. Also, no cups suitable for children were given to them. The server made a fuss about when we could order and made us wait till she got the drinks. We ordered appetizers: garlic bread, fried trio, and crab cakes. The garlic bread had raw minced garlic on it. Way too, too spicy and pungent. Their "bruschetta" sauce was raw tomatoes thrown in a blender with garlic- very weird like raw salsa. The fried trio app was the only yummy dish. The calamari was very lightly breaded and cooked very well. It was crunchy and tender inside. Then for the entrees: Spaghetti and Meatballs, the Ribeye and the Seafood Risotto. The spaghetti and meatballs were okay, the meatballs were quite mushy- very breaded. The seafood was fine, but the risotto was grainy and crunchy. Not creamy the way a risotto should be. And the ribeye, which was ordered as medium rare was overcooked. Most of our party was pretty much done eating by the time anyone came back to check on us to see if the food was meeting expectations so I let them know the meat was overcooked and showed it to them, but but that point because we had the children with us we just wanted to move on and not have it re made. We ordered desserts because we were celebrating the kids birthday, and they brought us an extra dessert to "make up" for the overcooked $70 steak. Once we were done eating, we could not get anyone's attention to get the check. Half our party left to get the kids situated in the car, and we had to ask for the check. And then wait for it for several minutes. Over all, it was an unpleasant experience that we do not...
Read moreFrom the begging my experience was very lack luster. Looking and reviewing here online I thought it would be a fun and exceptional evening. But... it fell far short of expectation. Olwalking the the front door neither of the two hosts acknowledged my wife and I as we stood for a few mins at the counter. We were hosting a party of 6 and we're right on time yet didn't get sat for 10 mins. The table was shoved into a awkward location where the server couldn't walk around and had to pass food over 2 other guests to reach the end of the table. We were not drinking yet was told any drink could be made a cocktail and sure enough.... they were not able to uphold that offer... Ordering 4 apps for the table none arrived together. The oyster Rockefeller came cold, no standard oyster condiments were brought with the doz oyster. Plus they were cold. The spinach and artichoke dip was room temp and nearly had the cheese melted, served 8oz portion(1cup) with only 4 cristini. Garlic bread was the saving grace because the fried crabcakes were not hot and lacked flavor. Main courses were ordered. From steak to lamb to risotto and salmon were all ordered in high hopes. Yet salmon was cooked right yet served cold. Racks of lamb ordered at med-rare came almost well done. A steak requested to be 'Blu,' even asking the server if they could do it... the steak was dry and well done had to be re cooked leaving that guest to sit and wait for his food while the rest of the party started with out him. The frozen Sysco cake tasted like it was left in the reach in fridge uncovered and was dried out, which could have been covered by the coffee if the coffee was decent but No.. and who serves 2 reese's peanut butter cups with a coffee? There was no owner or manager to be seen or found. Sadly I will not be waisting my time or money here any time soon. A small party of 6 was grated(charged a set 20% tip) which is normally printed in the menu book somewhere but didn't see... And for all things holy don't get me started on the decor. Good luck amore... maybe try more for your next guests....
