Smokey Mo's BBQ — Restaurant in Conroe

This place deserves the deets! Wife and I got a 3 meat plate each and tried 6 meats. Quarter Chicken - This smoked bird was cooked to absolute perfection! Deep flavor, juicy, with so much flavor that the only complaint you could attempt would be there's just not enough of the delicious skin to cover every bite! 9.6/10 Pork loin - Seasoned extremely well with just a slight bite. The meat was moist with a nice crust. 8.3/10 Turkey - Yum! Packed with flavor and also cooked extremely well. 8.7/10 Chopped brisket - So good! Juicy, flavor packed, some crunch from the edges before the chop. It's got some sort of sauce already on it and doesn't need anything more. But I'll get to the actual bbq sauce later. 9.1/10 Ribs - The crust on these was to die for! Flavor was fantastic. Smokey, peppery and delicious. They were slightly dry but I mean slightly. 8.6/10 Sausage - The sausage was ok. Nothing special, a little bland, needed the sauce to pull it back into the loop. 6.8/10 Now for the sides. I had pinto beans and man alive, these were perfect. Places that don't season their beans, take a lesson from Mo! 9.4/10 Also had the Mac and cheese. Now look, this isn't on them. I've discovered I just don't like bbq places Mac and cheese. But my wife loves it so I asked her to rate it. She said it's really good and gave an 8. (She's not quite as descriptive lol). Last but not least, the potato salad. I also am not a fan of potato salad in general but THIS isn't your normal potato salad. It's light, creamy, salty with a bit of sweet on the backside. I gotta give it 9.1/10 Finally their sauce! Most of the food doesn't even need the sauce but if you use it, you'll love it. It's rich and spicy. Not too spicy though. It's got a little bit of a Rudy's vide to it. I tried a little on everything and, while it was delicious, bbq to me is judged on its stand alone ability. This place passes on every front! Upsetting experience delivered with UberEats. Before I start my review, I’d like to preface by saying that my driver was on time and waited for the order at the location - so this is not an issue of a 3rd party delivery company being at fault for food sitting in a to go box on a counter. I also absolutely LOVE trying new bbq, so I was pretty excited to get my food! However, I was disappointed from the moment I opened my bag.

I ordered the three meat plate with marbled brisket, turkey, and chicken with potato salad and macaroni and cheese as my sides. I’ll start with the good - the chicken was pretty moist and flavorful, and the mac and cheese was good as well. The turkey has decent flavor, but it was so dry I could not eat more than a few slices. The brisket was not marbled, and it was incredibly dry and tough. What little fat strip they left on the meat was unrendered, and the overall texture was rubbery and unpleasant. Disturbingly, the only thing that arrived remotely warm was the potato salad. It’s temperature lead me to believe it is not being stored properly, so I stopped eating it after the first bite. Again, my delivery driver waited at the restaurant for my food to be prepared, and I live approximately 12 minutes from the restaurant. There is no reason my food should have arrived as cold and as dry as it did.

Only my 2nd visit but I'm going to say, the SERVICE this visit was SPECTACULAR!!!

The 2 young ladies that helped me were wonderful (I couldn't see their name tags but next time I will)! I ordered via drive-thru, they let me know status on food availability (1 potato left), timing and the kicker was the checkout. The truck in front took some time and not until I got to the window did I even look - that's when I realized I left my card at work.

I explained to the cashier who without missing a beat said it's OK. I asked if I could pay with Google and while unsure, she said wait, let me check. My next counteroffer was I can place the same order in the app and again, not missing a beat, she said yes we just have to void it in here if you can wait a minute. As she stepped away and I ordered online, I knew this needed to be shared.

Now as the 2nd young lady, assuming manager, came to the window, I eagerly tried to show my completed online order. She greeted me, assured me everything was OK and thanked me. What??? As she handed me my order she said they do indeed take Google and Apple payments (now you know) and she was going to check on getting a sticker. What???

For this singular experience I would gladly come back. I'm sure we've all had an oops moment in a store at some point but their patience, kindness but more importantly willingness to help can't be understated.
