Cafe Bombay is an Indian restaurant and buffet with many vegan, and vegetarian options. Me, my boyfriend, and some friends decided to meet up here for dinner. We were a big group (about 15 of us) so they seated us in a different section of the restaurant which was very nice.
Our server was nice, unfortunately, he was the only server/bartender for all of us so service was slow.
My boyfriend and me decided to order a combination dinner for two ($32) which comes with: -Papad: thin, crisp, round flatbread. -Vegetable Samosa: puffed pastries stuffed with diced potatoes, green peas and our special spices. Served with tamarind chutney. -Chicken Tikka Masala: boneless chicken cooked with creamy sauce. Served with rice. -Palak Paneer: Homemade cubes of cheese cooked with spinach. -Naan bread. -Dessert (Gulab Jamun): Fried dough balls dipped in sweet honey syrup.
The chicken and rice were delicious. Unfortunately, everything else was meh. I wish we ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala separately, and saved money on everything else because it wasn't worth it.
Read moreI loved my experience at Cafe Bombay, and I can't wait to come back! Great food, great atmosphere in the back room, and very friendly staff. Bonus: awesome belly dancer (family friendly) on Friday nights! The only thing I'd change is making sure we make a reservation!
When we first walked in, we saw the simple front dining room packed, mostly with ethnically Indian folk, which got us excited for the food, because surely the kitchen was doing something right to have attracted this clientele. There were also many folks who came in to pick up take out orders. (If I liked closer, we'd be getting take out a lot!) We told the staff that we were there to watch the belly dancer, and we ended up waiting for about 10 minutes for everything to be ready. They were seeing out a very large party, and I think the staff was a bit overwhelmed. They told us "Just a moment" maybe 5 times, which made us laugh. Anyway, after a while we were escorted to the back dining area, which is beautifully decorated! Very plush and colorful.
The chai was delicious, I just wish I could have gotten more. The free crispy papadums they brought out with a green sauce was a happy surprise and very tasty. We got lamb naan as an appetizer and loved it. The naan is so pillowy soft! For our entrees, I ordered the chicken tikka masala with naan, and my husband ordered a lamb curry (gosht korma, we think) that was a little too spicy for me but very, very delicious. I love-love-loved my chicken tikka masala! It was so creamy and such a great blend between sweet and savory. I cannot recommend this enough.
I wanted to try everything! We'll definitely be back again, most likely on belly dancer night. I personally know the performer on the night we visited (she's short and blonde), and she knows and loves her craft. She doesn't make the dance more sensual than it's designed to be, and you could tell she enjoyed performing...
Read moreBy far one of the best, if not THE BEST lunch buffet Indian restaurants you will find. Here is why:
Food and food consistency
I've eaten here around 8 times, each time selecting the lunch buffet options. They have a great selection of dishes that each taste unique and flavourful. Further, each item of food I fell in love with tasted the same every single time I've had it. Thereby, if you like the food, you will never be disappointed when you come in.
Service
The people working here are down to earth people that don't come off as fake. They don't per say go above and beyond to please, but they do everything with kindness in their approach and always willing to help. Above all, there is always someone walking the floor filing up your water with fresh iced water so you never run out. This makes the experience a lot better as a lot of the food is on the spicier side. But don't worry they have plenty non spicy food options.
Atmosphere and music
The place inside is very beautiful designed and makes for a very cozy atmosphere. I take my girlfriend here often. The music sooths my heart as I eat their delicious food, almost making me feel as if I'm eating at an inn from a fantasy book.
Cleanliness
The place is very clean and each staff member make sure that everything looks great for every customer that comes in. Again, I must emphasize how great the servers are and overall everyone working here.
Price
Lastly, the price is fantastic for the experience you get. I just cannot find another place that can beat this price with all the added benefits listed above.
This place got it right, and I hope it stays the same for a long time. I am waiting this review while siting down in this place eating my food. I hope to be back soon for more...
