I’m already not really a fan of city buffet and haven’t really ever been a fan. There’s only three or four items that I actually like and the majority of the food is just not that great. My kids like it tho.
I had been going there every once in a while because my twin boys that are 11 like to eat there.
Right now it’s Sunday the 14th. Yesterday I took my kids there for early dinner, which is to say around 2 to 2:30. I usually Let them know that I’m military and they put 10% off my bill. I forgot to do that yesterday. The bill came to $48 and change.
Today before 2 I took my kids there and they always ask age so I told them age and I said I’m military. When the bill was brought, I noticed that it was $58 and change… The lady was looking at me concerned because I was inspecting the bill (no military discount) and I said military I handed it back to her showed her my ID she left and I went to the front to meet her so that my kids and I could pay and leave and when I got it back, it was $60 and change even though it showed the 10% discount this time. (The lady also laughed when she was walking away and as we were walking up For me to find out why the bill was higher, I didn’t find out until later, but my oldest was a few seconds behind us and she apparently asked him if he was OK. I have no idea why and he didn’t seem upset so I didn’t bother to go find out.) Not only did the bill go up two dollars after me telling the lady and showing proof that I am a veteran but it’s also about $12 more than it was the previous day.
The bill has always been just under $50 with just myself and my twin boys. When I asked why it was $48 yesterday and 60 today… I was told because my kids were charged as adults. I’m not going to argue especially over $12 so I said ok wrote the total of my bill in total, sign my name and we left.
They always ask and I always tell them the correct ages and for some reason this time not only do they add an extra two dollars onto my bill after being told that I’m military but it’s over $10 more expensive than it usually ever is and both times we went before the more expensive dinner time.
Needless to say, I will not be going back to this location (Fairview in Milwaukee), If I even take my kids to city buffet again, seeing as how the food is really not very good. I will absolutely start going to Golden corral or almost anywhere else so that I don’t have to deal with this again.
I gave three stars because my kids were still happy and full when we left and the only issue was the...
Read moreIf I could give no star for food, and service. I would. Came here this late afternoon/early evening with my partner and everything was pretty good and tasty. I got one of their custards as I was super excited they had them here. (I typically only go to China Grand Buffet over here and I know they have the same custards as well there) I always take the wrapper off completely before I ever dig into them, did the same thing here and upon looking close at the bottom of my custard. Was mold. I was absolutely disgusted and I tried to get our waitresses attention as soon as I could. I wanted to tell them and let them know they should probably pull all of those custards incase any other's were also moldy. Instead, she insisted she grabs the manager (I believe) and she comes over, quickly glances at the obviously moldy custard and tries to tell me it was burnt.. Well I wasn't born yesterday and know very well that those were mold spots, not burnt custard. Instead of trying to understand or even offering some money off of our meal she goes to the back and brings uncooked custards and tries to explain to me how it's just extra burnt parts from previous batches... Very poorly handled and I will not be going back here. I would also like to add I did check two more of the custards to see if it was a few of them or rather just one was moldy, and thankfully it was just the one that had been moldy (that I had personally seen anyways). Which also adds to the fact, I definitely believe it was mold on my custard,...
Read moreIf I could give this place zero stars I would. I looked at prices online and they have it listed as 7.25 for lunch and 10.25 for dinner, I went in and saw that lunch was 8.95 and dinner was 11.95! So prices were already listed wrong. I went ahead and still decided to try their food because I had already drove all the way there. I was super disappointing by there selection, it is super tiny compared to other buffets I have been too. Not to mention almost all the food that my mom and I got was so cold, like it hadn't even been warmed up. After my mom and I ate half of our plates. We both got one plate each and only ate half we decided that this place was not worth 24 dollars. We went up to the manager and complained that we didn't like the food and that we both had eaten barely anything. She said Okay and left, we sat at our table for 5 minutes waiting. Finally our waitress came back with the ticket and it was 22 dollars! I went back up to the manager and explained to her that we ate pretty much nothing, and that we had probably been there a total of 10 minutes. She said okay how much do you want to pay and I told her I didn't want to pay for my food because it wasn't good, it was cold, and we ate barely anything. She ended up still charging me 14 dollars and waved her hands in my face telling me to pretty much get out. I will never go here again, China Grande Buffet has always had the best selection and is a super reasonable price for how much food they have. Would not recommend this...
