I visited on a Thursday evening to finally sample food so close to where I live. The interior and bar area looked clean and inviting, even if there were fewer customers this day. Bar service had a pleasant, attentive, and almost Chick-Fil-A like quality throughout my two hours eating. The guy behind the bar checked on me at appropriate times, knew when food should be arriving, and removed plates rather promptly. I ended up ordering brussel sprouts to start followed by pot roast and lemon chicken dinners and finishing with their apple huckleberry pie. The food had something of a homey feel to me and uniformly manageable and reasonable portions. The brussel sprouts arrived warm within several minutes after ordering. They had a properly charred look and taste to them along with a brininess from the capers and lemon. The cheese on top would have been enough of a garnish, but the croutons were crisp and added still to this appetizer. A little more garlic flavor would have put this dish over the top for me. The pot roast was cooked well and had only a couple of small bits that were mainly fat. The mashed potatoes were smooth without tasting of too much cream or butter, and the spinach retained its earthy taste as the garnish. The carrots could have been cooked a minute or two more to takeaway some of the crunchy texture. The gravy was not too salty or gluey and had just about enough volume to go with the other ingredients. The lemon chicken had a similar charred flavor as the brussel sprouts and was cooked well while resting juiciness at the thicker parts of the fillets. The cauliflower mash was just as good as the mashed potatoes, and the green beans felt properly cooked. A little seasoning for the green beans and uniform thickness of the chicken would have nearly perfected this offering for me. The pie had a freshly-made tasting crust that did not feel overly buttery in a good way. The thin pastry has a slight crunch on the top and pleasing to eat in its own. The apples were cooked properly and not over sauced in the middle. Be warned the huckleberry component comes in the form of something like jam consistency at the bottom of the pie with the apples on top. I found this combination interesting even if I wanted more huckleberry flavor. The ice cream was smooth and thankfully generously portioned. The total bill for these offerings stood at just under $70 including a refreshing light aqua fresca. The value in this meal came from the earthy, homey feel to the entrees and the pleasant service. I could see myself coming here to watch a game or treat family or visiting friends based on what I experienced. I would like to return to sample other fare in the meat category such as meat loaf and burgers and maybe one or two other desserts that caught my eye. All in all a visit I am glad I made!

Sooo many choices on the menu. Went in thinkn ah just get a burger...but no I went with for starters...waffle chips sprinkled with parmesan cheese and seasoning. Then for the main event I went with one of the selections from the Bowl items... the Wok-fired Chicken Kung Pao which came in a nice size portion and lots of flavor. Lazy Dog sides were so so original and delicious. Sweet Potato Tots with jalapeno aioli dipping sauce...I know right...Bacon Candy...yes..and for fruit a Big Slice of Watermelon....ended the meal. Sitting on the covered patio finishing up a good meal with a Huckleberry Haze IPA I can honestly say Lazy Dog was worth it. This Dog is Happy. Server: Zack did a great job summarizing the specials and explaining the menu... 😊New review on a Sunday August 21st to be exact I've visited Lazy Dog Restaurant at Fair Oaks Mall once again craving for wonderful food great atmosphere what more could a lazy dog like me want... This time I went for like a midday lunch and I immediately ordered the candy bacon. And then I wet my palate with an IPA called Bonito and then I begin my search on what I needed to eat and I came upon their Chicken Parmesan on their lunch menu. Wow was I impressed a lunch portion included a delicious chicken breast breaded to perfection laid on top of linguine with marinara sauce with Parmesan cheese to complete the Chicken Parmesan order. I really like the more roasted tomato flavor that the marinara sauce they use to make the meal delicious. With that meal I also enjoyed their Mexican Lager on-tap... And then I followed up my meal with their Banana Bread Pudding which included many vanilla wafers. Sam and Drew did a great job serving me and kept me entertained while ate my delicious meal. Lazy Dog Restaurant at Fair Oaks Mall really set the bar at another level for food ambiance and service.

TASTE (7/10) I had something called Bison Burger vs. My partner loved it, but the taste wasn’t really my thing. It was rich and flavorful though, definitely a treat for burger lovers. We also got french fries with some crispy stuff stuck on and around them, that part I actually liked. PRICE (7/10) Slightly above average for the area, but still reasonable. Felt OK given the quality and portions. SERVICE (9/10) The server was all smiles and super encouraging. You know, the kind that makes you order more than you meant to, in a good way. It is around the border though. A little more might feel you uncomfortable. ATTITUDE (9/10) Positive and welcoming. Definitely added to the experience. PLACE (8/10) The place looked nice. That being said, I’ll never get used to the American ritual of not being able to just sit wherever you want, even when there are approximately 74,000 empty tables. I get it — peak times, flow control, whatever — but come on. CLEANLINESS (7/10) Generally clean and well-kept. The ambiance was lovely. But there was grease on the entrance door, like touch-it-and-it’s-on-your-hand level. Pretty sure it was from people leaving with burger fingers. Just wipe it down, guys. ADDITIONAL FEES/HIDDEN COSTS (8/10) No extra fees. Tip was pre-set to 20% on the POS machine, luckily, the server deserved it, so no complaints there. OVERALL IMPRESSION (7.5/10) Not my dream burger, but solid experience overall. If you’re into big, rich burgers and friendly service, you’ll enjoy it. I’ll go back, maybe just not for the same burger

This was our first time eating at the restaurant. For those who are Covid conscious, the tables have high dividers between them and spaced out accordingly. In addition, the menus are for one time use. Also for those technically inclined, payment can be made on your phone by scanning the QR code on your check. I tried it out and worked like a charm. The atmosphere was rustic with at least one fireplace and fire pit that I noticed. We went during the night so the lighting was subdued but bright enough to see your food and the company we are with. Overall, you felt relaxed being there. The food was excellent. We started with the Hush Puppies. It's not your traditional type as these were potato based not corn meal based. They were cooked with a crispy outside with a nice bacon and onion flavor and lightly topped with a sauce with a slight kick. They were not oily at all. My daughter got the BBQ burger cooked to medium as requested. I tried a bit and it was cooked perfectly and very savory BBQ flavor. I ordered the Chicken Pot Pie. It was topped with a nice flakey crust which was not too thick nor too thin. Tasted just like pot pie but more on the savory side. There were nice slices of white meat throughout. We concluded with Banana Pudding. No question one of the best we've tasted. It was sweet with plenty of banana chunks and no artificial flavor or taste at all. Throughout the visit, our waiter was attentive to all our needs and had a nice personality. All other staff encounters were positive.

One thing that this restaurant has going for it is the architecture, it's a beautiful restaurant inside and out. This is another one of my first time tries, and as a new customer here you get a free garlic potato chips, which were "okay" nothing really awesome, and slightly soggy from the sauce. The service is spot on, the staff are friendly, knowledgeable and nice. It has a large menu with an assortment of a little bit of everything with a twist on a lot of it. I asked the host: Jack and the server: Franco for recommendations and also briefly spoke to a manager:Raj, passing by what his favorites were. I decided on the grilled lemon chicken. Sadly the grilling of the marinated chicken breast dried it out and the mashed cauliflower was tasteless, the best part of this dish was the vegetables on the side. At least this is one of those restaurants that ask for feedback, and like to make it right type of thing. So as a replacement I ordered their Wok-Fried Calamari, which was just okay also. The sauce made the calamari soaky to the point of not being crispy at all. The flavors of the sauce were over-powering and it was served on a large bed of rice, which is strange for an appetizer. Lastly their homemade ginger beer is delicious! (With refills for $1.50) I received a card for a free appetizer after talking with their Chef: Billy. Overall I think this restaurant is a 3 1/2 stars and at best 4 for their service and presentation.

I want to like this place so badly. I keep going back, probably have had 6 or 7 visits, and none of them are ever without issue. Everything on the menu sounds delicious but then when it arrives, it's so mediocre and underwhelming. On top of that, the value for the money just isn't there. The Korean bibimap (bulgogi? Whatever.) bowl lacks any seasoning. The chicken tortilla soup arrived as a cup of broth with a giant boiled piece of chicken floating in it and nothing else - I had to remove the chicken and cut it with a knife and fork on a side of and then return it to the bowl. The queso dip was mostly whole black beans, hardly tasted like cheese at all and was not at all creamy in texture. Accompanying chips were stale. The katsu sando has been the strangest experience - a teeny tiny piece of chicken between a tiny slice of milk bread and cut into thirds, making it so messy to eat. I assume they cut it like this to make it look like more food, because for $16 it's a total rip-off. The service ranges anywhere from not-so-great to hilariously terrible. Two of our visits we had to get up and ask the host to find someone to print our check. They charge almost $5.00 for a glass of iced tea but I think they tell the servers not to refill it because we always have trouble with empty glasses. I've really tried, but after this last visit, I'll never go back. Avoid if you have any other option.
