Love Bird — Restaurant in Sugar Land

The food was not what I was expecting with the attitude I was met with. I started by asking how much an extra side was to add to the meal and the guy at the window had a bit of a snark to his speech, but it's expected with Jamaicans where I'm from, so no problem. He then told me the yams cost the most. So I got curry chicken with sides of yams and rice and peas, with an extra side of plantain added on, also a chicken patty and Coco bread and 2 drinks. $25.59 total. ((Before ordering the side of plantain, I asked if they added any onto the meal like back home in Atlanta. This is when the guy basically told me I was lying and showed me a flyer of him to be DJing in Riverdale, Ga, claiming he had a party there this Saturday.) I have been eating Jamaican food for 15 years in several different restaurants in ATLANTA, GA and 2 or 3 pieces of small plantain is normal with a full meal!)) But since they didn't do that here, I ordered a full side of plantain, again, no problem! Food review: The curry chicken had really small cracked chicken bones mixed into the curry sauce, so it was really hard to eat consistently without picking through your mouth. Then I realized some of those little hard pieces were uncooked pieces of rice and overcooked beans from the rice and peas, which kind of made me angry. They gave me 2 yams in a puddle of yams juice as My side that came with the plate. And the side of plantain that I ordered as the extra side was the most dry plantain I've ever had. I took a bite from 4 of the pieces and then threw the whole box away. The curry chicken patty they gave me had a dark dry sauce baked on the outside so I asked the guy if the chicken patty was jerk and after giving me a weird look, they told me it was in fact curry. So I tore open the patty to show them what I had, they realized the mistake they had made and replaced the patty and ordered me to throw away the mistaken beef patty. All-in-All, The best thing I ordered was the Ting drink, and my son loved the chicken patty and Coco bread once they replaced it from the beef patty they originally gave me. Otherwise, I wouldn't return, either change your attitude or spruce up the food quality, especially if you are meeting people with the attitude I got walking in the door! We know y'all got bad attitudes, but the food usually makes up for it... Not...

First time trying out this restaurant. The youngman that took my order was very nice, and the wait-time was reasonable. I purchased 2 dinners. Lg Oxtails, rice & peas, cabbage, and a Lg Jerk chicken, rice & peas, and cabbage. The oxtails portion was good, the meat was tender but it tasted very oily and lacked true seasoning. The Jerk chicken was all white meat, which I failed to specify my preference for dark meat, but either way it was not true Jerk chicken cooked over a fire pit. It was more like an oven baked, over cooked and very dry chicken, with an extremely spicy Jerk sauce to cover up the lack of seasoning on the chicken. I did ask for the Jerk sauce on the side, but it was poured over the chicken, and I kinda see why. Unfortunately, the sauce was way too spicy for my stomach, so it was a total disappointment. The cabbage was oily and flavor was similar to sesame oil, which I did not care for. The best part of the meals was the gungu peas and rice (pigeon peas), which was cooked well...

My husband and I have been ordering from this place for a year now and each time there’s a problem. The rice isn’t cooked properly or they say they have something and once we get there they say they no longer have it. They’ve messed up our order multiple times and yes, we still continued to go because we tried to support a BLACK owned business! I was promise a FREE meal with my next order because they messed up my order and once I tried redeeming this while also adding to my Order that we were going to pay for, they say “im not sure about that”! Cool, so now my husband goes to pick up our order and they tell him “oh we don’t have anymore oxtail”! I’m sure they only did this because I tried to redeem my free meal that they owed me! We will never give this ghetto establishment our business again! Trust me you all; it’s not worth the wait, the hassle, the messed up meals, undercooked rice, and 3 peace’s of oxtail!
