Mediterranean Grill — Restaurant in Decatur

Based my first (and only visit) off of the Google reviews (then at 4.3 ⭐️) and I really hoped it would quell my appetite for Greek/Mediterranean cuisine. I drove 20 minutes away, in pouring rain and got the Lamb Shank plate & Gyro sandwich/wrap +mushrooms & onions w/ potatoes, dolmas, & hummus. I subbed the basmati rice that came with the lamb for potatoes. Let me tell you, I was simultaneously conflicted and disappointed. The potatoes were okay at best. They were very underseasoned & practically naked. Neither item came with the tzatziki requested, the biggest disappointment honestly. The salad had me wondering “can I get some feta with my lettuce?” The dressing was a pleasant touch to such a disappointing sea of greenery. The pita and hummus were pretty good. Dolmas tasted better than other canned derivatives I’ve had. The gyro wrap was okay. Would’ve been better if it had the tzatziki. The mushrooms were also grilled but for some reason the onions were raw. The lamb shank was just that, a lamb shank. Tasted like dry braised lamb without any real seasoning or sauce (ie braising liquid). Which was very confusing because from the pictures I saw on the Google page, even the salad was drenched in seasoning. Very misleading. I called and spoke with Mey, and they confirmed that the proper salad is 95% lettuce, 2 crumbles of feta, 1 half of a tomato slice, 1 cucumber medallion, and some olives full of pits…It was an overall lackluster experience. I understand with the bar set low and most businesses needing help, the quality of service may be diminished but with the quality of product, there’s no excuse. The prices are too high to have issues like this and I honestly feel like I wasted $40 for an $18 experience. I got a “partial refund” for an experience I feel at least constituted most of my money back. Will not...

Originally rated a 5 star several months ago pre-covid after a dine in experience.

Our covid take out was a very different experience. The rating for take out is one star.

Ordered 2 wraps, got one and it was a soggy mess. Ordered potatoes clearly marked "no salt or seasoning", you guessed it, lots of salt. The baba ganoush was good and the tabouli was good. We ordered a couple other things which were fine, not quite good. We have been over ordering to help restaurants out during tough times so our ticket was higher than normal.

Discovered the issues after getting home since the tightly tie the bags making checking the order impractical.

My wife called while I was in route but they hung up on her.

Upon return there was no push back on the missing sandwich but was told our salty potatoes had not been seasoned. After advising them I know what salt tastes like they did prepare another order. Perhaps the staff mixed up orders and another patron ended up with our original potatoes though I think that's unlikely.

This will not happen again, we will not order take out here again, ever.

I do hope they do well through these times at your expense. We hope to return when their dining room...

I am a frequent patron of this business and I ALWAYS order the same entree, grilled vegetables no rice add Baba. Normally they give me two small corners of hummus and FILL up the space where the rice would be with Baba and put my grilled vegetables in a separate container; NOT TODAY on 10/30/24 my order was incomplete. I only received a small corner of BABA and the other small corner of hummus and half of the large section contained hummus. I called back and the black lady who took my order was EXTREMELY RUDE and cut me off saying she doesn’t know how it’s supposed to look. I told her I do know because I order it the same way EVERYTIME I come here. She told me she would have the Manager Ash call me back but he never did. Lately when I come she has been NASTY and SHORT with me. I do not know what her issue is because I only call my order in and come pick it up at least twice a week. I thought if you were a regular customer they would be more friendly but that is just not the case. It seems if the more I come the RUDER they are!!! NO smiles, NO thank you, NO greeting when I enter. This will be my LAST time...
