Great rooftop brewery with 20+ beers, ciders, and seltzers on draft overlooking the beautiful lush gardens and nice park at The Perch. The biergarten has ample canopy seating with long benches and tabletops, perfect for groups!
Hubby enjoyed Doppel Hart Stout while I enjoyed the Angry Orchard cider (the Peach Setlzer was fun to try!). There's also some hard liquor as well. The bartenders were great and let me sample the seltzer and kindly answered any questions I had.
The ambiance is very casual and there's no table service. Rather than ordering through a QR code, place your order at the bar and then you'll get a text alert when the food is ready for pick-up at the long table closest to the bar. While most of the food isn't made from scratch in-house with limited choices, it's great for noshing with a beer.
The jumbo salty pretzel was a step up from the movie theater and surprisingly stayed warm for over 10 min. It was super salty and I removed most of the salt crystals. The doughy pretzel was perfect for munching with my sweet cider.
The Black Forest brownie is a delicious warm chocolate soufflé - don't skip dessert! Note the cherry compote, whipped cream, and walnuts are just toppings to elevate the plain brownie into a Black Forest flavor. The walnuts are not baked inside the brownie. I'm glad I kept it basic and asked for just the brownie without the walnuts, cherry compote, and whipped cream. Next time, I would ask for some a la mode ice cream to accompany the warm brownie. Excited to try it!
The park next to the brewery is really nice and very family-friendly. There's a bocce ball area, chess board, garden, a dog "sky bark", lots of space for little ones to run around, swings, and plenty of benches. Plenty to keep everyone entertained! The biergarten is a great way to unwind and grab a beer.
So glad The Perch opened up, Starr Hill Biergarten is a great spot to kick back and relax with a beer or 2! It's right next door to us and excited to come back with...

My wife and I have three children, one in third grade, one in first, and our youngest (Breighdyn 🥰) who's still in daycare. We've had SUCH a hard time finding a place to grab a few drinks and unwind where it's okay for the kids to run around and have fun, WITHOUT us having to wait hand and foot on them! We were a little concerned when we first showed up and saw a bouncer stamping hands, but it turned out to be totally fine - they only want to stamp your hand so the bar staff know you're old enough to keep the drinks flowing. After that, none of the incredible staff at Starr Hill seem to mind if you want to let loose. Once we got up to the main seating area, we had a sigh of relief - plenty of other parents drinking away while their little ones enjoyed all the fun games down on the terrace. If they're not in eyeshot, worry not - none of the other groups who were there with coworkers or their adult friends seemed to mind watching and playing with the kids so us parents could finally enjoy a night out together with no worries in the world. We even saw a few HEROES stepping up to help a lost brother and sister find their mom (who had enjoyed one too many margs 😂).
After a few drinks we unfortunately had to head back to the car to drive home, but at least the drinks and free babysitting made the traffic (and whining kids!!) a little more bearable! We cannot recommend this place enough as an amazing venue to bring your young children so you can throw caution to the wind and not worry about...
Read moreWonderful idea, terrible execution. Location is beautiful, food is pretty close to inedible & expensive, very few drink options. Most importantly - what the effing frick is wrong with the psycho bartender with a beard & wearing a tye-dye shirt last night? I went up to the bar where two of my friends were getting drinks. I was only talking to them and didn’t request a drink or interact with the bartender at all, but he started to aggressively reprimand me for “cutting the line” angrily asking “DID YOU JUST COME FROM THE BACK OF THE LINE? GO BACK!!!” I realized he thought I was skipping the line, which he has absolutely no reason to believe - but even if I WAS doing that is it really that serious? I said I wasn’t trying to get a drink several times and he just kept going. It was pretty embarrassing & unwarranted. All of my friends and a couple strangers were stunned and asked if I wanted a drink bc they felt bad for me. If this man has ever received a tip in his life I hope he uses it towards therapy, where he can discuss the likely feelings of worthlessness that lead him to crave authority & dominance to the extent that he’ll yell at random women about a line.
If you come to this location, bring a large bag with snacks...
