We drove 30 mins here from our stay in Myrtle Beach. I love trying (usually rural) off the beaten path barbecue places in The South. This place was the REAL DEAL! Can't beat the price. $16 per person. They do take out which seemed to be pretty popular. The dirty rice was my favorite part! Not to take away from the ribs or chicken; it's not often I get to eat dirty rice here in Pittsburgh (Summerville native). Ribs and chicken were tender. There were hot and mild options. I didn't feel like the hot was very hot and I'm pretty sensitive to spicy food (moms bf gave me a habanero when I was 4). The sweet potatoes were delicious, but very much on the sweet side. There were pecans (fyi pi-kahns are nuts, pee-cans are toilets) in the sweet pots which was nice to taste and see. They're not cheap. Several different sauces. Collards were awesome! Pulled pork had mustard and vinegar sauce options. Desserts...there was banana pudding and chocolate pudding. I also had the sweet potatoes as dessert. They even had a nice candied crust on top. Right before we left we were greeted by a gentleman with a Big Ds shirt on. He just sat down I'm guessing after a long day. Was very nice and inviting. Wondered if he was Big D himself. Every one...

Looking below I plated up some Mac n Cheese, rice, pulled pork (vinegar based & sweet mustard based BBQ sauces are available on the side), coleslaw, fried chicken, biscuit, chicken bog (South Carolina classic), corn , hushpuppies, collards, crispy pork skins 😋 the list goes on. I didn't manage to snap a pic of my desserts but the Banana pudding and Chocolate delight were both delicious!
My only "What Could Have Been" was the Mac N Cheese. It had baked cheese on top but lacked flavor throughout. It was unfortunate but everything else was exceptional for the price point. There are tons of options in addition to what's on my plate to fill up on! I shouldn't even have to mention the bottomless sweet tea haha.
Absolutely worth going for the...
Read moreTried this place for the first time today and LOVED IT!!! Great home cooked food in a clean and casual environment. We planned on going last week but my wife saw Tuesday offered an additional choice of liver and gizzards. Each day they have an extra choice like meatloaf, chicken fried steak etc... so be sure to check which day suits you best.
However... all the day in and day out food they offered was fantastic. I liked every single thing I tried and I tried it all. They had two types of BBQ pulled pork, awesome fried chicken, BBQ chicken and plenty of sides. The buffet price even includes drinks which isn't true at a lot of places around here.
The folks running the place were very nice and personable. This is definitely going to be a place we return to time and time again and wish we had...
