Beautiful evening in Conway so we decided to sit on the patio and enjoy sunset and dinner. The centerpiece of the lovely outdoor seating area is a large 3-tiered fountain. My party of 3 split a crab cake for an appetizer. Seafood crepes, scallops with creamed spinach & smashed potatoes, and shrimp & grits for entrees. Split a white chocolate crème brulée for dessert. Everything was excellent. I had the shrimp & grits. I'm very picky about shrimp & grits because everywhere that serves them claims their's is exceptionally good which is most often not the case. However, I'm very happy to report, Mike's Place makes a wonderful shrimp & grits depending on how you like your grits. These are stone ground then cooked and cut into round "cakes" and grilled to perfection. Two (2) "cakes" are stacked on top of each other, plenty of shrimp and sausage served on top in a slightly spicy creamy Alfredo-like sauce. At least 10 large shrimp perfectly cooked, not overdone, chewy, or rubbery - very sweet and perfectly seasoned. The crepes are large and stuffed with plenty of a variety of seafood as described on the menu. My mom loved them. My step-dad had the scallops and again they were absolutely perfect. The plate came with 2 separate dishes of at least 6-8 very large sea scallops per dish. Scallops were creamy, sweet, and slightly salty from the sea. On the plate, between the dishes of scallops, were served the creamed spinach and smashed potatoes. Service was excellent. Our waiter had good knowledge of the wine list and was able to recommend appropriate wine with each of our meals. I wish I remembered his name. Prices were right for the size and quality of our meals. We each took food home and had our leftovers for a nice lunch today. My folks are already planning their next trip here! I definitely recommend this restaurant and will eat here next time I'm in town. Next time I will be sure to get...
Read moreMy son and his wife had moved to Conway Arkansas. They love to try different places and decided to go to Mike's Place, they love it! The food is great the associates are nice and polite. They have made it their "new place to go" so when I came to visit them during Thanksgiving week they raved about it and wanted to take me to Mike's Place. I had the pork chops which were "ohhhh my gosh" so juicy & delicious! Most places you get a pork chop at can be dry, these were not disappointing at all! Knowing this was their new "to go place" I decided to purchase them a very summable gift card as a Christmas gift. The young lady that had taken my order over the phone was very nice and polite but seemed a little preoccupied with something in the background and with this being said, she did not ask for a note to be sent with the gift card that was going to my son and his wife for a Christmas gift! Although she did ask for my name when purchasing the gift card it was not added to it. A week later My daughter-in-law had called me and asked me if I had sent them a gift card from Mike's Place and I had told her yes I did! She had said there was no note so they were confused and they weren't sure who it was from because they had actually been there that same day (I called to purchase the gift card) with some of their friends for dinner (pretty ironic). Initially my daughter-in-law had called the other couple first thinking that they may have sent it to them because they had just been there a couple days earlier but they said no they did not, so she called me because I was the only other person that they had taken there. All in all it turned out well, I am not in any way disappointed, just a little more attention to be paid to the person on the other end...
Read moreWe’re new to Conway and my husband’s birthday was 10/4. We had reservations at Mike’s Place. The person who took our reservation was super kind and friendly. He asked, “were celebrating anything special?” and I told him yes it was my husband’s birthday and I was treating him to a nice dinner.
We loved the chill and laidback vibes of the restaurant. I loved their menu when I researched where we were gonna go. So I was super excited.
We ordered a crab cake and bam bam shrimp as appetizers. They were tasty. I’d eat them again.
I ordered the Mike’s creole fish with a salad and sweet green beans and my hubs got the blackened catfish with steamed seasonal veggies and fried okra.
Our server, Suki (I am sure I spelled it wrong & I’m so sorry) was really wonderful! She was sweet and pleasant and took very good care of us!
They also serve warm rolls with butter.
I was not a fan of the sweet green beans. And when our server asked how we were, I normally don’t complain but I did say I wasn’t a fan and she was like, I can get you something else, so I got steamed broccoli. She was super sweet about this and I felt relieved.
Their food was really tasty and we’ll definitely be back!!!
My only note, and it’s really not even a good note, is that usually we’ve been to restaurants where they offer a birthday dessert or something or an anniversary treat. Or whatever you’re celebrating. Especially when they, “ask are you visiting us for a social occasion”, So I was bummed this wasn’t offered here. But also that’s not a reason not to eat here. The food and service was really good!
Also I forgot to take pics of our beautiful entrees! But they were really tasty...
