This is my 2nd visit to this restaurant. The first time was last month and I was not impressed. The server didn't know the menu and couldn't give us recommendations. I didn't leave a review because it was a new restaurant and I wanted to give it a chance to iron out it's kinks The pho was okay but not impressive. This second time around, I took my kids because thanks to social media they have been wanting to try pho. Again, the server didn't know the menu. My 12 year old daughter asked for the BBQ sliced pork over rice and the server quickly asked for the item number on the menu. When the food was brought out it was the wrong item. I told the server about the mistake and my daughter said maybe she gave the wrong menu number. The server took the wrong item away, consulted with her manager, and then came back to tell us we would have to pay for the wrong dish AND the dish we intended to order. I agreed to pay for both dishes because I didn't want to cause a scene in front of my children. I asked for the wrong dish to be brought back so I could take it home, the server consulted with her manager and then told me the manager decided to remove the charge of the wrong item. My assumption is they had already thrown away the food. Viet pho 1, thanks to the uniqueness of your restaurant here in Conyers, and the growing popularity of pho and amongst the young generation, you have great potential to be a successful and thriving business. However, good customer service goes a long way in the longevity of a business. Here are a couple of things I recommend you improve on:
Train your staff on the menu. Most people in Conyers are not acquainted with Vietnamese food. They are going to ask questions. Train your servers on repeating the food orders back to your patrons because mistakes happen. If a mistake happens, don't send your server back and forth between management and the customer. Our server went back and forth at least 4 times to resolve this discrepancy. The manager should have approached the table the first time the server went to the manager. The manager should have comped the wrong order to begin with. There was absolutely no ownership on the part that your server was perhaps new or just didn't...
Read moreReview will be based on what was good, what needs improvement, and I will close with a suggestion.
The pho was good. This is based on my experience of pho in New York, New Jersey, Florida, and Georgia. It is good pho, with good broth and noodles, with a good amount of meat for the large serving (mix combo #1 large for $16). No complaints.
We also ordered the Vietnamese pork egg rolls for $6. Unfortunately, they were not great. I felt no real redeeming quality in the taste, which was just mushy inside with no real pork-related taste. A little side sauce and $2 per egg roll just seems unreasonable to me, especially for their tiny size. This item needs a huge improvement for its price, in my opinion.
Finally, we come to the matter of price. Two large pho and one appetizer will set you back $40. For pho. $40. Let that sink in. Not including tip. Two people eating simple comfort food for a tab of $40? Noodle soup? No. That’s unreasonable to me even if there is a bit of meat in the pho. I understand the economy now at the end of 2022 is rough on everyone, given recession, etc. However, pho isn’t an expensive meal, luxurious, or exotic. I could understand $13 per bowl (large) and $3 appetizers. However, as it stands, this pho is beyond my current means. I’ve tried it, I’ve liked it, I wish the owners success and luck. I just don’t agree with the pricing.
I was going with 3 stars, but the quality of the pho itself is above that, despite the egg roll shortcoming. 4 stars.
My suggestion: revise the pricing strategy to consider turning one-time customers...
Read moreI came here for the 1st time on 3/22/2023 with 3 others. My son and I came for the Phō but my 2 friends got braised wings and pork egg rolls since that seemed like it would be safe since they weren't familiar with Vietnamese food. The Phō was average. The wings were disgusting. The menu said they were fried but they were more pan sautéed in fish sauce...horrible! They don't offer refunds nor exchanges. The shrimp spring rolls with peanut sauce were good. The pork egg rolls were good. The waitress had an attitude when we told her the wings tasted like fish. My friend is allergic to fish. We weren't told the braised wings are tossed in fish sauce when we ordered. The typical braised wings in ATL are NOT just soaked in fish sauce....these were disgusting. We asked her for a Togo box to take the wings home to the dogs. The To-go container had a bug on it. The manager finally agreed that they should tell ppl ahead of time that the wings have only fish sauce on them so ppl with allergies can avoid them. We asked the waitress for a bag and she said you can get one from behind the counter when you pay....with an attitude. Overall, this place deserves one star...the Pho and rolls were average but the service, the wings, and the attitudes were awful. Won't be back!! Unless they get better recipes and attitudes, they won't be open long. And we never ask to send food back but the wings were inedible!! If she and the waitress didn't have an attitude, it would have remained a...
