Sat down for dinner asked about wine selection and the waitress new nothing about the selections there. Next order appetizer and meal at same time, meal came out first no appetizer so we canceled it. After this we are about half way through the meal and the waitress is asking if we needed boxes, we said no we are still eating. Not even 10 minutes later she is setting the check on the table of which we did not ask for, we were not done eating and only on our 1st drink we wanted another at bare minimum. I was about 99% of the way done eating and my wife about 75% done, with 1 more piece of veggie left on my plate but still eating the waitress assumed i was done said nothing to me and just started removing my plate... when my wife and myself got mad and demaneded a manager we were told there wad not one. She stared at us like a deer in headlights while we complained and seemed shocked... she kept looking at the table behind her, eyes and body language between them, where the cook and the bartender have been hanging out all night. Obviously off duty workers and close friends which were loud all of the meal and had the bartender trying their concoction. We asked them how they would feel but did not want to be involved even though unspokenly they were. One of them even recoreded it.. when we asked for a box to leave cause we felt rushed and unwanted business the waitress refused to help us swore and stormed off... more mad she worked 10hrs then that she gave rushed poor service. The bar tender at least listened as the "i dont want to get involved" but started throwning things, off duty cook could not help but chime in. The bar tender comped the meal even though i was offering to pay as the waitess swore some more and stormed out.....
Great food..... worst service i have ever had. Rushed, no one cared, they did not want us there and could not be happier we left especially after calling them on their BS. ....
Never go here and my company and group will never go here.... i have been in nicer...
Read moreI am saddened to write a poor review for a restaurant that has been a part of many big occasions for me and my family. We have spent graduations, birthdays, and anniversaries here. However, last week when we went for a casual dinner, we were severely disappointed in how poorly we were treated by the manager/owner.
I turned 21 in January and my ID has still not arrived, so all I had was my paper ID. The state of Tennessee has updated their paper IDs recently, so I have been aware that some people may feel uncomfortable accepting them and serving me. If I had been treated nicely, this would not have been an issue. After all, it’s just a drink. Sadly, the owner came to our table and said “Let’s see this paper ID” Followed by, “Yeah, not gonna fly here.” At this point, I knew he thought it was fake, so I tried to explain that they were new and if you use the Kiosk, this is what they look like. He was very rude and threw my ID on the table and accused me of presenting a fake. After the scene, we walked out of the restaurant. We then looked up the TN.Gov website and found a photo of the temporary ID that I have, and My Fiancée went back in to explain that we were not using a fake. Mostly because he had embarrassed us in front of the whole restaurant. He still insisted that it didn’t matter and he had ran this business for 16 years, so it didn’t matter to him how he treated us. My Fiancée explained that we didn’t care about not getting served, but he could have approached us more kindly and at least given us a chance. He still never apologized, nor cared to lose our business.
Safe to say, us and our family & friends will not be visiting Char again under this management, as I know business owners who would never treat customers this way under any circumstance. We took our business to a different restaurant where we were treated with kindness and served our drinks. As a business owner, and bartender, please read up on new forms of ID, BUT most importantly, treat people...
Read moreSmoky Nights is my favorite band. So, I was wanting to go see them one last time before moving out of state. My party and I grabbed a table like usual. I had never had an issue, and I had always been able to grab a table around the time the band started playing. However, the manager, Chad, wanted to do something different and require you to eat food at 9pm at night to get a table to see them play. He came up to us verbally attacking us about how we took someone’s table. He had a long drawn out discussion about how we can’t just grab a table and talked down to us. He then proceeded to tell us he could kick us out just because we grabbed the table and were looking at him like we had never heard it before. At this time, we didn’t even know who he was. He told us he was the guy to talk to if we had a problem with what he was saying. After talking down to us, he then said we apparently had a table waiting for us. There was no “I’m sorry for talking to you like that” or anything. It made a big long scene, but the guy didn’t have any respect towards 3 women nor his customers that came for alcohol sales to watch the band play. We told him we were leaving and it didn’t phase him at all. There was no apology about his awful behavior and talking to 3 women with no respect. On top of that, nobody was eating food at the other tables in the bar at that time. We decided to cash out and leave. We never had been told this random rule nor had been talked to by any owner or worker there or anywhere else. I regret going there for anything now and knowing he has made money from my business. We will never be going back. The Cookeville natives that came with us won’t be going back either. It sucks that he treated us so bad that I was unable to see my favorite band play one last time before moving...
