The best place to eat in the old part of town! You gotta try the bruschetta. It’s not a huge portion but most definitely worth the price! When I order a beer, I’m a domestic guy. They can give you the regs but have some interesting others. I’ll order a small random just to say I’ve tried something different. The food is actually fairly priced for the quality and quantity. The wife gets the Bernie Mac and if she is full and doesn’t finish it, we take it home and I normally eat it the next day lol it’s good. They have good sweet potatoe fries but I’ve never had a bad one anywhere else. However, in my honest opinion, I’m a sandwich guy, the Neuben is my favorite. I was skeptical at first because when I think of a Reuben , I think of the old school sandwich and how I’ve always had it in the past. They put a few minor twists to it. Pretzel roll and this stout mustard that is delicious. I find myself thinking of that dang mustard when I make burgers or sandwiches at home. The waitress said they make it “In House”. The only reason I give 4 stars is because the ONLY food I will give 5 stars to is my late Nanas Cooking! Lol I wish I could offer more criticism for the rest of the menu but we are hooked on what we’ve tried there and love it and we are “Repeat Offenders”! Lol ive ate at the other places near this joint as a Cookeville native and the only other good place in the vicinity is Craw Daddy’s. This is just my opinion!!! The atmosphere on average when we go is around a 8.9-9.2 ....
Read moreOur VRBO host had Father Tom’s Pub on the list of suggestions so we gave it a try. We were pretty disappointed with the meal as a whole. The Cauli Fire Bites came out cold because we’re confident they sat for a while in the window. They were okay but the cauliflower was mushy inside the breading. Our daughter did enjoy the Fresh Prince sandwich and I think her sweet potato fries were the only dish completely eaten. My Nine Iron sandwich was also okay, but the fried Brussels sprouts side was so overly fried that there were no juices left. They were overly bitter and under seasoned so it was like eating the tissue paper they pack in a birthday gift bag. My wife’s The Root soup was creamy but the cardamom was so strong it’s all you could taste. The restaurant’s version of bruschetta was placing the topping in a bowl and then you assemble yourself on the non-toasted crostini and mozzarella. My wife did eat most of so it wasn’t bad. Our son’s Bernie Mac, which he chose to have the sauce on the side instead of the chicken tossed in it, was three fried-from-frozen generic chicken tenders in a bowl of Alfredo Mac that was very flower heavy and bland. Overall we were very disappointed in our Thursday lunch experience. Maybe the evening...
Read moreVery nice atmosphere, quite busy at lunch time on a Friday at 1pm. Was the only person waiting to be seated and was ignored by all 4 wait staff for about 8 minutes. Not enough outdoor seating (which we preferred), so had to eat inside. We both ordered the ollie burger and string fries. Took more than 30 minutes to get served. We were not asked how we would like our burgers cooked and when they came they were very very well done and dry. When I asked the waitress why we were not given the choice of how we wanted it cooked, because both of them were very dry and over cooked, she just shrugged and said only during dinner service could you choose how it was cooked, not during lunch service. For being over cooked the burger was luke warm and the fries were good but luke warm also. Our rating would have been easily 5 stars if our food was cooked correctly and served hot and if the wait staff could have been a little bit more attentive. This was my first visit to this restaurant and we picked it for my birthday based on its ratings, was a bit disappointed but may give it another try for dinner, but not for lunch if this is their policy. Overall the restaurant was...
