We've been eating at this same restaurant for years, although it's name and staff have changed several times. In this current cycle, management has changed the menu a bit. They've added a few unusual items to the buffet. Two that stand out in particular are frog legs and crawfish. We were not impressed. I've enjoyed frog legs since I was a kid, and was slightly exited when I saw them. I was a lit less excited after I tasted them though. They weren't horrible, just not good. If you've been here before, but not in awhile, you might also notice there are fewer selections than before. A few of our old favorites no longer exist. One whole section of what used to be food is now condiments and silverware. Call me crazy, but I've always requested those items from the server, if a restaurant had one. It was odd to have someone hover around our table with absolutely nothing to do but refill drinks and remove dirty dishes. My daughter (age 8) spent the meal trying to find out exactly how low her glass had to be before she got a refill. I've never seen her drink that much lemonade at one sitting, the cups are a pretty good size. She was disappointed when she finally got it to within an inch of the bottom and STILL hadn't been asked about a refill, even though everyone else at the table had. The sushi and grill are still good though. Nice variety of sushi, and it's always fun to choose your own ingredients. We watched the staff replenishing the sushi bar, which was reassuring, because many of the other dishes looked as though they had been sitting for some time. One of our party complained profusely about the fried potatoes, as they were cold and soggy. Over all, I would say the quality of the food has dropped quite a bit. And it seems the price has risen too. In my opinion, it's no longer worth the cost, and my family will be trying out a few other places while we wait for this one to...
Read moreAin't nothing bout this mf average, 2 adults can eat here for less than you'd blow at chick fil a, this place is off the chain, all the negative reviews are clearly karens or something, the sushi is way above par compared to any standard buffet sushi I've ever encountered larger too. The hibachi grill where you pick your own ingredients and the cool cat behind the glass whips it up for you in a jiff with whatever herbs & spices you would like is something I've never seen at an "average Chinese buffet" & I've extensively traveled the nation. This place is a gem & deserves a serious round of applause, I've dabbled just a bit with the normal buffet items as well and no quams whatsoever but the sushi and the hibachi are top notch enough I haven't even had to turn to the standard buffet items much. I've dined there and talked to folks from 2-3 hours away that came all the way there just for that buffet. I would wager this is the best Chinese buffet in Cookeville by a landslide, I used to go to panda garden where they try to peer pressure you out of there after a plate and a half & give you refills only filling your glass halfway once their ready for you to leave, needless to say you'll never catch me at panda garden again. My fiance has celiac disease and is obviously choosy with her items but legit has never had any issues following eating here which is a serious...
Read moreI come here for lunch at least once a week, sometimes twice. Buffet is above average. I always judge a Chinese buffet on three things; the rice, the sushi (if applicable) and the General Tso’s chicken. This place checks off on all three. Great!
The sushi is always prepared fresh every day throughout the day always being made as it is needed. The sushi here is surprisingly good for a buffet style Chinese restaurant, you won’t be disappointed but then again I’m easy to please.
The food is always coming out of the kitchen for the buffet nice and hot every hour or so, or when they need a refill as per usual. They even have a “hibachi” style grill if you want fresh cooked food any way you wanted it. You can choose from any selection of meats, seafood, veggies, rice or noodles and have them cook it up in only a few minutes. Add whatever sauces you like and go. This is where this place really shines. The “hibachi” grill portion of the buffet. Did I mention it’s included with the buffet price and also the sushi? So literally everything here is all you can eat. So have at it like I do.
I always leave moaning and groaning because I eat too much. First because I love Chinese food, secondly it’s super cheap during lunch when I do come here, thirdly because it’s easy to get carried away with yourself when you’re enjoying good food that is all you can eat.
I suggest...
