Firehouse Subs Cookeville — Restaurant in Cookeville

I had not visited a Firehouse Subs in several years. I came in to try the Hot Ones subs. First thing, the restaurant was impeccably clean. The staff was super friendly. The sandwiches, I had a bite of the garlic Hot Ones sub and a whole "hot" Hot Ones sub. Both tasted extremely good. I had some misgivings when I looked at the hot sauce selection because those sauces were not what I consider Hot.

The garlic Hot Ones sub was very tasty. My son loved it. The hot Hot Ones sub was not hot to my taste. My son tried a bite of it and also didn't think it was hot. Still a tasty sub just not a level 10 heat, to me, closer to a 4 or 5. I also elected to have a pickle spear marinated in the Last Dab hot sauce. That was not hot, either. The experience was really nice and the next weekend, we had the same order. Same results but still very nice sandwiches. We are planning on taking my dad next weekend because he has never had one of their subs.

Last thing I will point out, the breads were superb, many times better than breads I have had from a competitor. These two visits completely removed one of the competitors from my future selection. The bread, meat, vegetables, toppings, and sauces were...

I recently had hip replacement and have difficulty walking any distance so I ordered online so I could simply step inside the door and grab my order for my son in ICU who had requested a sub from Fireside. My order was not ready at the designated time. I was told that I had to walk down to the opposite side of the restaurant and order as if I was a walk-in. I explained my situation, but was not offered any accomodation. I would have cancelled, but I had already paid online. After several minutes I got my order and did state that I was disappointed. I suspect that this place is under new management. The atmosphere has changed tremendously. The service has changed tremendously. The portion sizes have gone below a child's size. This is the sandwich I received tonight. I had them hold the veggies because I had my own at home. What was left was about three pieces of lunchmeat and some melted cheese and mayonnaise. This isn't ok. This was $9.43. I think even at $5 I would've been upset to have received this. There needs to be a better balancing act here. I understand cutting costs to keep profits high...but when you cut costs so much that it doesn't lead to repeat business, then you have no profits at...
