We've been to La Reyna several times and it has been consistently good. Been here with friends, family and date night. I will say it can get expensive for a large group. We came with our family of 5 and it was pricey. Good thing the food is worth it.
La Reyna is an authentic Mexican spot hidden in Countryside Shops where the Publix, Mathnasium, Club Pilates and UPS Store is located. It’s nestled right next to Melting Pot.
Very small and incredibly charming spot. There’s a little photo opp area right outside before entering. The staff is friendly and nice. The food is consistent and delicious. The drinks are great as well.
On our most recent visit, we went on a Saturday during brunch. Literally caught the tail end of brunch before it ended at 2pm. They now offer brunch on Saturdays and Sundays at 12-2pm. A small window but I’m all about brunch so I would work around this. Lol. We went with another family. Nairet was our server and she was absolutely wonderful. Very friendly, patient and accommodating.
For food and drinks, we ordered the following:
• Chilaquiles with Green Sauce • Mexican Mixed Ceviche (Mahi Mahi and Shrimp) • Tampiquena Steak • Kids Quesadilla • Tamarind Margarita
Everything we ordered was yummy and presentation was on point. Ceviche was literally perfection. Served with large fried tortillas, crackers and hot sauce. Chilaquiles were so good as well. Eggs ordered over easy wand still perfectly runny. Kids enjoyed their food as well. Steak cooked at the perfect temp of medium rare. I will say, even their refried black beans were so dang good, it was smooth and creamy and had great flavor. Ate the black beans with the rice.
During previous visits, we’ve had a few different items listed:
• Carne Asada Tacos • Chips & Salsa • Villamelon Tacos • Shrimp & Mahi Mahi Molcajete • Fajitas • Burrito • Micheladas
The Chips & Salsa was served with their house red and green sauce which was so good. The Carne Asada was tasty. Unfortunately the Villamelon Tacos weren’t as good as we hoped, the steak was overcooked and way too chewy to consume and we had to send it back. The chorizo and pork crackling was a nice touch. Micheladas were bomb. The fajitas were so fresh and on point. My kid loved their burrito.
The best and most memorable dish we’ve had here is definitely the Shrimp & Mahi Mahi Molcajete! It’s pricey at $35.99 but the portion is massive and the generous portion of jumbo shrimp and Mahi Mahi make it totally worth it, so much amazing flavor in this dish! Get it!!!
Consistent and authentic Mexican food. The vibe is so charming and cute. Service is great. Cannot go wrong here if you’re...
Read moreNot going to lie, I was highly skeptical that this place would be any good but we tried it anyways. On a "Taco Tuesday" no less and I'm glad to report we were pleasantly surprised!
I would totally go back! and recommend you try it.
On Tuesdays they offer $2.50 tacos (chicken, carnitas, cochinita pibil and rajas)
First I want to start with saying that Rajas are not a typical option you find on most menus - it's definitely a wknd special or special order dish - as a vegetarian this is a great option and plus to catch on a menu! It was tasty and fantastic.
The Cochinita Pibil was to die for! - the only thing I would have wanted to see more of was the pickled onion you get per taco
The kids enjoyed the chicken in the red sauce & the crispy carnitas - it had very minimal to no fatty tissue.
The tacos are stuffed to the brim and not skimp at all - very pleasing and appreciated.
Something I would skip on ordering again would be the queso dip - even though the molcajete stays HOT, the cheese got hard - don't get me wrong we all enjoyed the quest fundido with chorizo but it would have been more manageable and enjoyable if the cheese dip was more of a dip than just melted cheese.
The Charro beans were awfully expensive, they come beautifully plated and the side of beer 🍺 to add to beans is cute and gimmicky but it left too strong of a beer taste to share with the kids- they didn't enjoy the flavor and neither did I, my husband seemed not to mind at all - the beans would have been too thick and lacking that watery charro style without adding the beer.
Ask for the house spicy sauces -they were both fantastic.
We splurged with the churro's for dessert - we got the chocolate version and it came with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream and a few slices of fresh strawberries.
The drinks were tasty as well -we ordered the Jamaica (Hibiscus) and Tamarindo (Tamarind)
The service was absolutely great as well.
The decor is hip and fresh and a cool place for group gatherings.
Possibly the best tasting Mexican Restaurant in SW Broward with Authentic taste and options to boot!
Such a pleasant find in Cooper City and we would definitely be coming back when traveling through the area!
Oh the prices could be considered hefty so be prepared to spend a pretty chunk here.
They are in desperate need of staff! To the point where they are turning down business because they can't keep up...
Read moreCharming-looking place but lacking some basics: Most important, Food was not all that authentic Mexican. I went to this place based on ratings but there is a lack of authentic Mexican taste, spice and Freshness. The tortillas served appeared to be microwaved and not on a grill or toasted (thus, they tasted and texture felt like they were microwaved). Tortillas served as appetizer tasted like they were cooked on re-used oil. They tasted rancid and guacamole was not freshly made. Tasted like it was sitting for hours in the kitchen. Beans and Rice texture was as if it was sitting in the kitchen for days. Taco plates are only 1 choice for 1 Price (usually over $13). There is no such thing as a plate with mixed tacos (e.g. Fish, Chicken, Beef)…only 1 type. Small, overpriced and not flexible. Service: When we first sat down, the attendant did not take care of us immediately and directed us to a QR Code to review the Menu after 7 minutes. It turns out that she was giving other people paper menus. When we asked for a menu (not a QR Code), she gave us a paper menu that was dirty with guacamole. When she finished with us, she took the paper menus back to give it to other guests (really unsanitary and unnecessary as paper menus are not expensive...especially for those concerned about COVID-19). Menus and water should be the first thing that an attendant puts on the table in addition to complimentary bread or tortilla chips. The Margarita specialty drinks looked very nice but tasted just OK. Tasted watered-down. Attendants speak Spanish and did not understand English (I'm bilingual but like to speak English)…especially considering I was with non-Spanish-speaking guests from South Africa.
I do not mince words, either it's good or not good (would you eat at a place that is a 2 or maybe 3?). This place was not all that good (especially considering for a Saturday night Dinner Date) considering the above reasons. I was really looking forward to a nice Mexican meal / evening but this place took the air out...
