Last time we ate in, it took FOREVER. The food tasted great, but it took a really long time to get the food (& it was other tables who had this issue too). This time, we got smart and picked it up, which was fast and efficient. Again, the flavor of the food was outstanding, however, the problem is they seem to skimp on some of the important ingredients. For example, we ordered the Aloo Gobi (cauliflower with potato, etc) but there was almost NO CAULIFLOWER in it (see pic). Very disappointing and I feel like I got ripped off. My daughter ordered butter chicken but there was very few pieces of chicken in it. The other 2 meals we ordered were about average in regards to the meat-to-sauce ratio. We also got the Mulligatawny Soup. On their menu they describe it as "Lentils, mixed vegetables, coconut, garlic, ginger," but it was just a very liquidy broth. For $9, that's a rip off too. In summary, they are overcharging for sauce with very few meat and/or veggies in the dishes. They need better quality control to make sure each dish is not missing the food it is supposed to have in it. UPDATE: I spoke to the manager, and he apologized and gave me a refund for the portion of the meal that was unsatisfactory. Thank you for doing the right thing. I understand this must have been "growing pains" when opening a new restaurant, and we will be happy to give Taj...
Read moreTo start the food was the best part of the experience. We arrived early at 5.30pm because we had later commitments. The service was really bad. The server did not know the menu at all. They only had 1 type of white wine. They would bering the glasses and bottle and put it on the table. We had to open it and serve ourselves. Even with the second bottle. We asked for sparkling water 4 or 5 times, it never came. We asked for extra spicy sauce, it never came. The tables around us were getting super frustrated because their food was taking so long. The owner or manager was at the front door barking orders at the waiters and pointing guests to their tables - yes pointing and not escorting. There was no background music at all. The waiters (no waitresses btw) would carry the silverware by the part you eat with. And to top it off they charged us an inclusive 20% for a large party - we were 5. When we called to make a reservation they said they only take reservations for large parties of 8 or more. But the food was good. Only the naan bread was doughy. The butter chicken could have been less sweet. Would I recommend this to you - no. I've had so much better experience at other Indian...
Read moreTaj Indian Grill delivers on everything you could want from an Indian restaurant. I first sat down and took in the calm atmosphere, with gentle colors on the walls, and the pleasant blue booths made me feel like a royal when I sat down. They also played a gentle instrumental soundtrack that relaxed me as I sat down to order. I ordered a Masala Tea, Paneer Tikka for an appetizer, and chicken biryani (extra spicy) as my entree. The Paneer Tikka was covered in a savory and gently spicy mix that was a joy to eat, and it came with onions and bell peppers to provide a unique crunch. The masala tea was gentle and creamy, making me feel like I was drinking something that was straight out of a dream. The Chicken Biryani was easily the star of the show, though. Not only was it as spicy as I ordered it, but every single bite was an explosion of savory and sweet with the chicken cooked to perfection. The staff was welcoming, kind, patient, and extremely diligent, making sure my water cup was never empty and always checking in on me through the meal. This is just the first time I've eaten here, but it will be far from the last. I'm already planning my next visit, and you...
