Best pizza EVER!!!! Dined in at Palio's tonight, having never been there before. Husband had their specialty "meat and cheese deluxe" and I had classic pepperoni and mushroom. Wow! Best pizza we've ever eaten! We always loved Cane Rossa and Bay 34th to dine in, and I fratelli or pizza hut for delivery, but no more! Cant believe they've been here since 2008 and we just discovered them tonight!!! Staff was near, clean and friendly (and masked). Was a constant stream of takeout pickup orders, as well as a half-full restaurant at all times, including the outdoor patio area and the back dining room. We spoke with the chef/owner who has been there since 2008 and he was very nice! We will be "regulars here for sure! They have ruined us for all other pizza! Palio's pizza is light and crisp, very cheesy, not too heavily sauced, with the perfect seasonings, all baked to perfection!!! You can select the perfect smaller sizes for just you or larger ones for your whole table. We noticed most everyone also ordered something from their amazing dessert case too. It all looked amazing, and of course it smells like heaven from those fresh baked pizzas! Oh and what appears to be just a "strip center joint" is actually an inviting, beautifully decorated and relaxing restaurant with comfortable booths! Winner, winner PIZZA dinner! Cant wait to work our way through their menu! We are making a stronger effort to eat locally and support small businesses. Praying that Palio's will be around for another 12 years and counting!!! Oh my gosh that was good! My husband and I agreed that we regret all the other pizzas we've eaten from or at other places, because Palio's defines what pizza should taste like, what the crunch and chew when you bite into pizza should sound like and feel like, and how happy your belly should be when you have eaten your fill! Did I mention that we love this place!!!! Who knew this was even here?...
Read moreWe've gotten pizza from here a couple times and generally it is good but tonight was a real bummer. We had a vegetarian eating with us and they came up and chose a pizza - The Hawaiian Sunrise. Now the website was wrong and the ingredients in the picture are not what was on the pizza (which had meat). Granted the pizza doesn't sound Hawaiian but we were ordering pizza, not solving a mystery. When we opened it and realized something was wrong we called and we told the person what happened and we needed a vegetarian pizza and we could return the Hawaiian if they wanted it, they said there was nothing they could do. I didn't so much care about getting a "free" pizza for the trouble of driving there, or even that their website was wrong, but I was very bothered that the answer for their website being wrong was "Sorry, nothing we can do." Double check your orders is my advice I guess. If I had never eaten here before the review might have...
Read moreOur group came in during the evening on a weekday so there was little to no other customers in the restaurant at all. Although there were many employees standing around, not a single one greeted us as we came in and the older man taking our order seemed annoyed that we were even there. Since we were not familiar with the restaurant, it took us a moment to think about what we wanted and the man made it evident that we were taking too long as he gave no response when we were trying to think about what we wanted.
Although we did come in close to the closing time, it would be nice if we were still treated respectfully as we did pay, tip, and were respectful as well. The mediocre pizza is the only reason I’m giving this...
