I actually really wanted to love it. They seem like nice people, hard working, cohesive, great location. IMO they need a hostess or a dining room manager to control flow, greet customers. I was seated longer than 10-15 min before someone came up to me and said ‘is it ok I bring you some water?’ I tried to give my order but he said no. About 15 min later someone took my order, but what I ordered FROM the menu is no longer on menu? I told him I need something NOT spicy NOT fried. He said we can make anything not spicy. When I finally got it, they sent the wrong rice so I waited 5-10 more min. The food was so so so spicy it blistered my lips… LITERALLY. When I couldn’t try to eat anymore I pushed the dishes aside, but 20 min later I still wasn’t able to pay. I finally just stood in front of the register another 10 min before I was able to get them to take my $. I almost walked out several times…. I’m not even sure they’d notice. YES they were busy and it was noon. $33 for my entree with $6 of it spring rolls. Only had water to drink. Also when I came back from restroom they had thrown my food out already and there was almost all of it…. My husband would’ve eaten it. Pet peeve of mine restaurants throwing away food or giving table when I’m in restroom not done. The good? They did bring a small cup of soup after water and it was quite good. They worked as a team… but they either need staff or a hostess or process change. They seemed like kind, nice...
Read moreMy husband and I had the most horrible, demeaning experience at Yummy Thai in Coppell today. The food and the initial service was ok, but that is not what prompted me to write this review.
Once it was time to pay our bill, the waitress brought out the credit card machine and as I was paying I asked my husband if he had cash. My plan was to leave the tip in cash, so I chose the “No Tip” option on the credit card machine.
Once I was done with the credit card machine the waitress asked how the service was. We replied “it was good”. She then proceeds to tell us “in the future keep in mind that we work for tips, so if the service is good please leave a tip next time”. My reply was “did you not hear me ask my husband if had cash? that was for your tip”. I also let her know that it is uncouth and EXTREMELY unprofessional to ask for a tip.
This will be my last time patronizing any Yummy Thai. If you want to leave a restaurant feeling disrespected and demeaned, then by all means go eat here. If you want to eat where your business is appreciated, then I suggest...
Read moreWe have been ordering from Yummy Thai for the past year & love their Papaya Salad but as of late, the portions are getting so small. We ordered a papaya salad to go this evening WITH shrimp ($2 up charge) and got two measly small shrimps and 1/4 box of papaya salad. It was so disappointing. We called and asked to speak to a manager but no one was available. We explained to the person over the phone that we order from there at least once a week, but the portion size today was just too small & unacceptable. His legit response, I kid you not, was “what do you want me to do?”
We asked just to give us some more papaya salad which he said he couldn’t, and we understand it’s probably out of his control. But for a customer to politely voice their concerns & you respond with “what do you want me to do” is just rude.
We think the food tastes great, which is why we order nearly every week but the portion size is just ridiculously tiny now, especially for a $15 papaya salad. We just feel like we are being ripped off now. Wish they...
