McAlister's Deli — Restaurant in Copperas Cove

I have eaten at the one in Killeen when it was located there many years ago and I was never disappointed. The one in Copperas Cove, I've only eaten there twice because the first time was with a friend and it was only the potato and it was good but this second time that I went there today I ordered the McAllister Club.

The young lady that was taking my order was so sweet. I didn't realize it until another customer went up to the counter and told her that she forgot to give them a receipt and I realized she forgot to give me mine. And then I realize again she did it to a couple of other people.

So on the order I made sure to tell her I didn't want the ham. I would prefer extra extra bacon (I even mentioned to her let them know they don't have to be shy adding a lot) :p and then asked for the side order to be potato salad. And I got the cheesecake that they were selling and of course the tea. She did everything right because it was on my receipt exactly how I told her.

As I noticed the female in the back doing the orders (manager) was tossing the food onto the counter of where they grab it which I wouldn't think would be a big deal until I got my order.

When my order was ready I grabbed it and walked to my vehicle but I noticed it was a little light when I did pick it up but didn't think nothing of it until I saw the potato salad was missing when I was in my car. I didn't pay attention to my sandwich too much. So I had to walk back in and tell them they forgot my potato salad, can you imagine if I went all the way home and didn't have it I would have been a tiny bit upset because I paid 20 bucks for the little bit that I bought. I didn't even get an apology that they made the mistake which of course I'm not going to say anything but they acted like it was my fault the way she treated me. But of course I was still nice to her because she was sweet and considering the different kinds of people she has to deal with I didn't say anything.

It was when I got home I noticed there was 2 strips of bacon on my sandwich. Lol. The bread was extremely hard the lettuce tasted old. I couldn't even tell if there was cheese on it, it was very slimy so I could not eat the sandwich it was very unappetizing. My neighbor who pretty much eats everything didn't mind dissolving it but then my neighbor stopped eating and I said what's the matter and they replied this sandwich is disgusting. Then I knew something was extremely wrong with the sandwich when a person who eats anything doesn't like it. Lol.

I was also disappointed in the cheesecake because I guess they took the slice and dunked it inside the cardboard container which was warm I don't understand why because it was separated from the actual meal and it dissolved all over the cardboard so I couldn't eat the cheesecake as well.

Of course the moral of my story is when you decide to treat yourself once a month like I do, you would like that food to be the most delicious so this way you can return the next time but of course in this case I'm not ever going to return there. I would have given it one star but like I mentioned the young lady who was taking my order was sweet. I hope this review is shared with the company so they can work on bettering the quality so this way people can enjoy their expensive meal.

Yes, places get busy and hectic. I've worked in retail as well as food industry and the one thing I was taught is quality over quantity. If you have a line of people waiting for food and if they love your food they will...

Our grandson came up from Austin to have lunch with us and him Mom so we suggested McAlisters since his time was very limited. When we got there it only took about 5 to 10 minutes to place our order to eat in not to bad but then we waited almost a hour for the food, it was a super easy order the only meat even ordered was bacon on BLT"s plus A and there were only four of us. While watching and waiting the lady that took our order was taking orders filling folks drink cups, no mask and would cough in between stuff into her hand then go right back to handling the drinks cups etc. Almost turned your stomach to see the lack of being clean actually handling food and drinks. Once we finally got the food which we would rate was okay, nothing special and for sure no wow factor, we asked for a mananger that took a while then she finally came out, we realized we had seen her in the back she was working. She never said her name, was very nice said she was sorry for the wait and the problems never once in any way offered compensation for all the problems, nothing off food , no coupon for later nothing! We spent 38.33 to wait that long & such a unclean person working up front that could have had anything, who knows what, Covid, any other disease. The manenger said she would talk to her but we watched after that and she never talked to her or got on her or made her wear a mask or stop coughing in her hand and handling folks drinks and food. If she had offered some type of compensation we might would thought of going back there but not its very doubtful we will ever return nor recommend them to anyone. Very slow , unclean place to eat, hope we don't come down with something now. Our grandson had to rush then and eat to get back to Austin, sort of ruined our lunch with him. The manager did say she was sorry but nothing showed us they really cared, seemed like she just came out because we had asked for her. I went there for lunch with a friend. I ordered the half Memphis and a chef salad. He ordered a big salad. I asked was that sandwich hot and was told yes. I do not like cold sandwiches. I received my order and when I touch the bread it was cold. The lady said oh did you want the whole sandwich hot. 😕And I said well I asked and I was told it was hot and that’s what I expected.So she told me she was going to take it back and have to remake and ask are you going to nuke this because if so I will just take the meat off because I don’t want leather bread. When I got the sandwich back immediately knew what they did. I opened it up the tomato was hot and the lettuce was completely wilted. I took it back and told her I told you this is not what I want you to do and I told her just give me the roast beef and cheddar.I get that back and there’s horseradish sauce coming out the sides of this half of sandwich when I opened it it was a corner of Roast beef and it was nasty. I asked for the manager she comes over and when I showed it to her and said OK while shrugging her shoulders. I asked is this not a nasty looking plate she shrugs the shoulders and tells me well the cheese is melted can’t tell what’s what I took my knife and slid it across the bread where all the horseradish sauce was and she just kind a looked at me said well yes I told her give me my money. She didn’t care that the customers were not satisfied I feel completely disrespected and I’ll never go to this location again..I frequent the one in Killeen on a regular basis. I was totally disappointed. They mess up your food you’re on lunch break I only have so long I can’t get you to continue to remake my sandwiches because you can’t seem to do it right in the first place. No kind of customer...
