El Rio Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Copperhill

I honestly hate to say this because I’ve gone to this restaurant since I was 12 years old and I’m 20 now, but I wouldn’t recommend this place anymore…..I got served cold and lumpy cheese dip and then said something and instead of giving me fresh cheese dip they just heated it up in a microwave or something still had lumps in it…I was calm and polite and just accepted it then I had asked for flour tortilla chips for my nachos and got corn tortilla chips with tortillas to the side….I don’t know what the tortillas on the side would do for me honestly….and the waitress wasn’t happy about it said it’s what we ordered, when it wasn’t….asked for manager and he was extremely rude copies my movements because when I get upset I move a lot and he was doing it.. I asked him nicely not to do that and he said that I was doing it. I was the customer and he did that. I said the customer is supposed to be right you’re not supposed to be rude and he said that the customer isn’t right he was and that set me off and I started to get rude…I said I’m never coming back here and he said good… he didn’t resolve any issue me and my family ended up walking out….he had even yelled at me…very terrible experience that I had never had to deal with before…I just wanted him to listen to me and he wasn’t willing to cooperate with me at all said glad I won’t be seeing that terrible customer again or said something about being glad that I was leaving. El Rios has always been my favorite Mexican restaurant the food was always good along with good service and kind staff, but now it’s going down hill with rude and terrible staff. I’ve been coming here since I was a kid and it used to be really good! They had the best tacos and wings when I was a kid. Unfortunately it’s not the same. We stood in the lobby waiting for 20 minutes to get seated while the ladies told us they had been standing there for 30 minutes. After finally getting seated we quickly got drinks and chips. Our server was friendly but after about 20 minutes no one came and checked on us. Our drinks were empty and another table got sat next to us and two waitresses checked on that same table two times instead of checking to see if we needed anything. My husband had to get up and get someone’s attention to get us drinks and check on our food. After about 45 minutes of being there the table next to us got their food. We still hadn’t received the first bit of our food. The server got angry at us when we got up and asked for a check. She finally agreed to give us our check after telling her we wanted to speak to a manager. Then after ten minutes we had enough and decided to leave without paying. Needless to say the service is terrible. I’ve been in restaurant business 10+ years and have never seen anything like this and would never allow my servers to treat any customers this way. Do not eat here.!!! We were on the train ride from Blue Ridge and had limited time to eat, but we figured 1.5 hours should be enough time for two chicken quesadillas. We waited and after 45 min still no food. My husband asked for the check and the food to go. After an hour I said forget the food and let’s pay for our drinks and leave! As we are walking to the front a young man hands us a bill, but still no food. The older female Hispanic manager was extremely rude, when we told her we had to catch the train, she stated everyone has to catch the train. Stated they were extremely busy. No apologies from her! As we were trying to pay for our drinks she appeared with the food in to go containers. Reluctantly I paid for the food and we headed for the train. Once we were on the train we started eating and they had soaked the bottom of both quesadilla with Salt!!! They were uneatable ! Totally unprofessional!!! My husband ran back to the restaurant to request a refund and return the food . And she asked him not to make a scene. Terrible food and service, eat somewhere else.
