I had the Arroz con Pollo for lunch, and it was excellent. The chicken was tender and flavorful, and the rice was perfectly cooked. The side dish of black beans and plantains was also delicious. I also had a slice of the Original Rum Cake for dessert, and it was one of the best rum cakes I have ever had. It was moist and flavorful, and the rum was not overpowering. The service was excellent. Read moreI have been going here since moving to the area six years ago. I cannot think of one single time that the food wasn't fantastic. The reason I am writing this is because of the standard of the product has diminished. Not in flavor or quality. Because of what little you are now getting. I was there today and ordered a Cuban sandwich, small fries and three beef Empanadas. Two of the three Empanadas had virtually NO meat inside. I'm talking about ZERO! The other was woefully lacking any either. the Cuban sandwich was good, but again. Seriously lacking the meats in it. This place was never what I would consider a bang for your buck. But That wasn't the reason I went. It was because of what you got, and the quality therein. My order number today was #22 and the total was $27.81 Sadly I won't be returning as this place, as it has become yet another whistle stop "tourist trap" along the Choo Choo ride for the visitors and uninformed. Sad.
Addendum to original review The "owner" was quick to point out that I should have contacted them immediately. My order as to go. I live almost 20 miles away and didn't want to return. I felt I was fair in my review, and feel that the establishment was merely doing damage control and obfuscating my comments. I do not appreciate being patronized, on here. Or in person. I will add this. There was no way I could have known my empanadas were empty. There was NO way I could have seen the Cuban sandwich was lacking content. And furthermore, them claiming that they "precisely weigh" the meats etc. in their products is a bold faced lie! I have been going there for years! And I have watched them prepare my orders, as well as others as you have a clear view of the kitchen. I have never ONCE. Seen them weigh anything in regards to making or preparing the food. Nice try. Now you have not only insulted my intelligence, but offended me in doing so. Nice try. Keep your food and rest assured. I will now make it a personal mission to go out of my way to steer patrons away from your overpriced sub standard food. Hope it...
Read moreTo start I used to love this restaurant I was going to them when they first moved up here and was living in their restaurant on the Hwy I love their sandwiches so today go in decide I’m gonna get a bowl so I get hamburger rice and beans on my way back to work where my fiancé is waiting on me because we were gonna share it but I’m hungry and decide to take a few bites while waiting on stop signs and red light I quickly notice the meat is barely like warm but the rice is hot so no big deal I’ll mix them I do anyways then the first hair appears in my mouth I slowly pull it out and think oh well I’m hungry and can’t be late getting back to work plus my girls there and we wanted to spend lunch together after another 2 to 3 bites another hair comes up at this point I can’t do it so I spin around call my job tell them what’s happened. A head back upon entering instead of making a scene because they have a restaurant full of people and I don’t want to hurt their business and I realize stuff happens so I tell the lady and say I don’t want any more of that can I have two Cuban sandwiches instead at first no problem they all go in the back and finally come back out and the lady call me up to the register and gives me $12 dollars cash ( I paid with a card ) and I paid $13.61 and then very rudely told me if I wanted a sandwich I would have to pay for it now as a local I find it hard to believe that people could move here start a business that the locals have supported and start treating people this way with straight disrespect and lack of integrity I will not eat there any more now neither will my family I really hate this too because I truly enjoyed their sandwich Horrible Horrible service and just an ugly way of...
