Sadly, I have to update my review of one of my favorite places. We went yesterday, (12/07/24) and the service was horrible. There were different young girls working, which is fine, one of them took our order with a broom in her hand. She showed no manners, offered no suggestions or help, and didn’t even smile. She rushed us and acted as if she was angry the entire time.
The music was salsa and extremely loud. While I love salsa, it’s not the best choice for a dining atmosphere. I mentioned the volume to her, but she didn’t seem to care. The other waitress was a bit friendlier in comparison, but it was 4 PM (they close at 5), and both girls made us feel as though we should leave. Very disappointing that this place is loosing the good vibes that use to have.
————————————————— My favorite is the quinoa arepa with mozarella and prosciutto, chocolate coffee super yummy and Sergio was super helpful and attentive.
I tried their breakfasts for first time and I LOVED it. Oatmeal pancakes where great, everything taste delicious, coffee unbeatable and the service is always fantastic, they make you feel at home, specially today Mateo was super helpful and attentive with all my request and replacements. This is definitely one of the most cozy and cute place in the area for eat or or just snacks and work.
I am thrilled to see that they opened a Macondo in Coral Gables. Great addition to the area. They are located where the old Small Tea was (which still missed it) but at least this new inauguration consoles me. I loved Macondo in Doral but I think liked this one in Gables so much more. Beautiful decoration, nice service and delicious food as always. Decent prizes.
Breakfast all day, brunch on weekends...
Read moreAmazing coffee, food, and service. Why am I leaving a 1-star review? Because when you pay for your food, they bring over the little digital device, you insert your credit card, and the screen asks if you want to tip 18, 20, or 30% on top of your bill (in my case the screen showed $62.80 and asked how much I wanted to tip). I selected 20% - but guess what? The amount they show ($62.80) ALREADY includes 18% tip, so I ended up tipping almost 40%. I only realized this when I got home and noticed the receipt said 18% gratuity - which was odd because I had selected 20 - and then I realized my 20 was added on top of the 18. I'm extremely supportive of tips and service workers, but this is an absolute scam. When the tip is included the window should ask if you want to leave an additional gratuity of 3, 5, 8, or "other". A shame to see a great restaurant with great food, coffee, service, and vibe, decide to trick their customers. Shame I...
Read moreStepping into ‘Macondo’ feels like crossing the threshold into the pages of One Hundred Years of Solitude. The ambiance is warm, intimate, and full of the kind of magical realism that makes you feel as if time itself has slowed down. The décor whispers of nostalgia, with a cozy charm that could very well be found in the mythical town of Macondo—where stories intertwine and flavors tell their own tales.
And the food? Absolutely delicious! Every bite is a journey, bursting with rich, authentic flavors that transport you straight to the heart of Latin America.
Whether you’re a fan of Gabriel García Márquez or simply in search of a delicious and enchanting dining experience, Macondo is a must-visit. It’s not just a restaurant—it’s a story waiting...
